Tire size question

Good day all

The time has come to replace the tires on my E32 Alpina. The rear wheel is a 9.5x17 and the tire currently on the rim is a 265/40R17. Can I get away with a 275/40R17 on that rim?

Rob, on my B11, the rears are 10" wide (apparently...?), I'm running 265/40/R17, and there is practically zero clearance to the control arm... am guessing the 9.5" wheel is offset a little more outward so the 275 will fit??
