Karl, I was curious about your comment above and the same you made on BaT - was this car used as a utility vehicle (heavy engine hauler) in its previous life?

Hi Brian.
Yes, this car apparently had a period of hard time many years ago. The then and now owner, presenting himself as a 'retired professional exotic car mechanic', i.e. the car having been in good hands (!!) also used the 'touring' to transport motor car engines from his shop to the freight terminals of trucking companies. I will send you an e-mail and a picture if I can find it.
However, based on the circumstances the car looks surprisingly nice:smile and proper and there seems to be no good reason for you, not to rescue it, please do :wink

Is this for real? Don't think they would use an Elekta as they all went to Italy?

There is no picture of the actual car in any of the articles. The pictures are ,nicked’ from the internet and
identified as above mentioned. It might be the story is correct in so far as a BMW V12 was tested in
an E34 M5touring (I have heard that rumor first time years ago), but the V12 from the McLaren F1 ??:eek
and the car still exists ?? = a hidden secret for almost 25 years ??
Sorry guys, I have my doubts......:wink

(S38B38) 3.8 li engine,
power output 340 bhp ECE / 347 bhp DIN.

Still, no blame on Chris Harris or David, it is the facts (?) in the article that are putting me off

E34 525itouring is a good body base and I have no reason whatsoever to doubt that David did a good job
with the power line transplant and otherwise….. so the car is what it is and should be enjoyed as is...

Collected BL01698 from Munich Legends last week, 600 days after I made the decision to go ahead with the restoration.





she is back on the road and back home after a 370 mile drive. Going through everything with a fine tooth comb to see what snags there are to sort out. Mainly just silly things so far, the odd bit of broken NLA trim etc. but there are one or two that I'm probably going to need some help with when I get to tackle them.

How come nobody is buying any of these ,reasonably priced’ (?) cars ??
Any thoughts ? I have mine....;) but would like to hear a 2nd opinion....;)
