I realized the other day after reading the manual and talking to some others that I should have received 2 standard keys, 1 valet key, and 1 wallet key.

I am missing 1 of the standard keys and I never recall having received two. So I called up the dealership yesterday and asked if they could look around for it and they called back today saying that they couldn't find it and that they're pretty sure I was given all 4 keys.

What do I do? There's a key out there somewhere that can be used to steal my car but I dunno where it is!

Thanks,
Grad

Post it to a bad dealers forum.

Mine even gave me keys from his house there he keeps his money (or bank safe deposit box - translating to American English) - just kidding.

All depends on dealer. I got a nice BMW/M5 hat - everybody in Spartanburg was asking where I got it (and lousy mug - my mother-in-law to keep) at the time of delivery. And after 1.2K service - I left valet key - they called next day to tell me that.

I guess all people are different...

lokhankin,

Yes, you should have 4 keys. Take the three keys that you have to the dealer and they can disarm the missing one. Easy.

May not so easy to get the dealer to foot the bill for replacing it. Picking up my car in Spartanburg, I was informed that replacements for the two main keys are expensive. Good luck.

Grad, when I took delivery they forgot the radio/gps manual. I called the sales rep and he said it was probably excluded at the prep center. He mailed one to be a few days later.

So it's not unusual for them to forget a key and in the excitement for you to not expect one.

Stiffen your back and good old BMW with come up with a key. And I don't care if it cost a thousand dollars.

Good luck.

My fault, I had the key afterall. It seems my mother hung it in my room where my belts are. What an idiot!

How the hell am I suppose to know it was there. I had asked her if she knew where it was or maybe where she had seen it... but then we find it cleaning the place.
