No offence meant but last year a Nissan 200SX won. Irrespective of how fast it goes or how much power it has it still isn't a supercar in my opinion. Could you please elaborate on your definition of Supercar?

Thanks in advance.
And it only has a 1.8 litre engine in it! But it ran the 1/4 Mile faster than a RUF Yellowbird Porsche. And was only just pipped into second place by the same car for top speed prize.. By my definition of the word, anything that can go toe to toe with the Yellow machine is a Supercar.. Sorry if you don't agree.

I will treat each application on it's merits, and it could be that my definition of supercar is different to everyone elses.. but we already have 2 GT2's committed and an F40 Ferrari. Along with a Lotus Esprit Twin Turbo and several M3's and M5's (Some modified some not!) Plus some of the fastest cars in the Japanese Tuning Scene ...

What I can tell you is that this year we will have 75 cars all turning out performances to make us M5 owners sit up and gulp down our coffee!!

But also i'm trying to attract the right sort of people. People who are responsible., into Motorsport and having a craic! Not stupid kids who don't know how to drive or behave and think that led's for washer jets are a "modification". (no offence by kids i mean mentally not agewise)

It's entirely my event and it could be that i will upset some people by being fussy over which cars i admit. But that can't be helped i'm sorry to say.

Hope that clears it up a bit for you ! :)

Cheers
Dave

p.s Oh and i'll certainly make mistakes, and admit cars that on paper look like the real deal, but fail to deliver.. (it's only the second year of doing it and i'm still learning!!) So please bear with me. The feeling I have is that i am already attracting the right crowd, and things are going well ticket sale wise.. already.. so i am optimistic!

p.p.s. if people don't have a car thats suitable it doesn't mean they can't come and watch!!! soak up the atmosphere..etc..
Thanks for the info. I appreciate the difficulty in deciding whats in and whats not. You've obviously got to balance the show stoppers like the Lambo's with stuff that goes like sh*t off a shovel yet has much more humble beginnings like the 200SX.

I'll try and haul my *** down to see the action as I still can't believe that a 200SX can go that fast unless fired out of a cannon. And if money is going to charity then it would be rude not to make the effort.

Hopefully see you there
Andy
That'd be great!! Also check out the website under the last event there's videos!! cheers DMC

Woodbridge Airfield Site Report!

Over the past few weeks a few people have asked me what the surface of the runway at Woodbridge is like. This question threw me a bit as last year we were so busy I just didn't get a chance to drive down the strip, which was a bit of a disappointment(especially as Spike had offered me a go in RoadShark!- Thanks Spike
.)

Anyway as part of my training as an IOPD Marshall and Clerk of the Course. I spent this morning at Woodbridge and during a break in proceedings of the bike sprint day, I took the Beemer down the Runway at a pretty sedate pace and was amazed at how smoothe the surface is ! After a quick circuit back to the start down a not so smooth service road(50mph limit here so no probs) I tried a tad more rapid journey and found it to be equally comfortable!(If only the A12 was half as good !!)

I think it's safe to say that it's the best surface I have ever seen on a drag day. (Much much better than Elvington, and significantly better than Santa Pod and Bruntingthorpe!)

It has wintered extremely well.. the main runway is dark smooth tarmac and runs for over 1.5 miles.. the start area is light tan brown tarmac with lots and lots of grip..Perfect for big power cars to catch a flyer from!

By the time our event comes round 20th August 2005, the new health and safety rules will be functioning very smoothly.

Any questions at all please contact me on [email protected]

Many Thanks
David McCarthy

P.S. If you suffer from Hayfever make sure you have your medication with you come August as the surrounding areas are farmland and the disused areas of the airfield are covered with Budlea(sp?), Also make sure you have a warm jacket as the wind really blows across the exposed Airfield!!

Can you go and Watch I live in Ipswich and a friend lives at the Bentwaters Park housing.

That run way is very nice as the USAF redone the runway before they left... They are having a VW show this year. So you could always have a look then also as to what it is like
Yep you can buy a spectator ticket. See the website. http://www.tv2005.co.uk

Thanks.
Ok thanks.. Might be worth a look I feel!!
DMC,

Just a quick ticket question.

I'll probably be turning up (2 adults). So will I need to buy 2 separate adult tickets @ £10 each. Or just buy a family ticket @ £15 to allow 2 adults and as many children even though we aren't bringing any kids.

Thanks in advance
Andy
Two Adults = Family Ticket, 15.00 GBP. Children are optional!! :happybirt
