Ok. I've had the "new and improved" clutch for less than a week, and last night, the thing went to hell. I was driving around in Los Gatos when i started to smell some of that lovely clutch-burn. I was holding the throttle steady in 6th at the time, nothing going on. I prodded it a little and the bloody thing just SPUN (i mean 1/4 throttle, nothing heavy). Tested it in 6,5,4,3,2. 1st was too fast to tell. I let the car rest for close to 10 hours, and took it out this morning. Same thing, only not as mild. Mainly in upper gears (4,5,6). The smell was slightly different. I couldn't pinpoint it, but it was primarily clutch-burn. The car has been sitting in my garage for close to 3 hours, and my garage stinks of it now. Also, the car is surprisingly warm. Any ideas? My service center is NOT going to be happy monday morning when I go storming thru.

Dan,

How mad are you? I would want to rip the service departments head off. I would not want to be the service manager on Monday. Sorry to hear about the continued trouble. I am sure thay will get it right this time.

Well, let's say this. I get a RUSH out of arguing with those airline b*tches. Although I have yet to break a monitor.

What REALLY pisses me off is that before i dorve a 1/4 of a mile i was saying that there was somethign wrong with it, and they said no, it's fine. Service tech 1 drove it, anoter guy drove it. i even pulled my service consultant out of her desk and she said it was fine. Then I had soem of my friends drive it, and only one could confirm it, but it was too subtle.

then last night this thing bloody blows up.
call me an emotionally disturbed teenager, but this is BLOODY F**KING UNACCEPTABLE. I honesty like my service center, so i'll try to contain myself, but holy mother, they will not be happy.

Thanks for the concern. and to make it worse, today is the day John and i were supposed to do the test drive of the califronia route get together. im missing out on that, but he's a good guy - he'll go thru it. we'll keep you guys posted.

I don't remember when they started issuing the new ones, i *think* it's 4/00.

And about clutch slipping, you can tell. trust me, if it were, you'd notice. th revs shoot up on the tach, but there isnt a correlation in your movement.
