I ordered today a "Supersound exhaust", made by a specialised german company doing exhaust only for BMW. I saw the kit (already sold) and it looks great : exactly what BMW should have put standard : same design, but much better finish. All is inox steel, no rust possible.
In fact there are two models available : one normal sound (like the OEM) but with inox steel (don't know the price), and the supersound, which I'll pay around 1700 USD.

The big surprise will be the sound, which is incredible when rpm increase they told me. I have to wait until 10th August for the installation !

I'll post my feedback soon. I have already Remus exhaust, which does not sound bad at all, but is not enough different from the OEM, although the inox finish means no rust. I'm ready to sell it soon if anyone interested, around 800 USD (official price around 1300 USD), they have the swiss homologation (exact model for E39 M5), and they are only 6 months old !

Hello GeorgeK, unfortunately I have actually a problem with my mail (urbanet doesn't work properly..), parlez-vous français ?

I went to Digit Power again yesterday : my E39 was on the dyno again, and he obtained the same result as the last time (at least they're consistent) : that is 277 KW instead of 257 KW. But they said I have to remove the K&N filters and thus I'll gain more than 10 HP ! I did that today and noticed that the engine go better in hot weather. Before with the K&N when I drove hard with 20-25°C I felt a clear decrease in performance due to overheated engine !

I'll return there in two weeks to put on a new "super sound" exhaust (see other post), and of course to make a last test on dyno to see any improvement.

Salut Tom,
Oui je parle français... J'ai habité au Mont pendant 20 ans et a Lausanne pendant 10.
I think it could be interesting to have your car dynoed by another shop. I've witnessed some interesting things with some tuners in Switzerland, and I've learned to practice the biggest care with power claims. I can talk to you offline about this if you want.
Best regards, George
