I don't think i'm violating any rules for a one time group buy. I have no relationship with this vendor other than being a potential customer. Just want to see this come to be.

See the link for the info, they're looking to get 20 e34 owners in for the strut tower brace group buy. I don't know of any other manufacturer that still makes a product for the e34 chassis, and strong strut has a good reputation on the e39 side.

edit: i know there is a group buy forum, but come there seems to be cobwebs growing over there, hence my posting on the main page.
move as you see fit though.

I would be very interested if this becomes reality !

I had a strut brace on my 535i and it made a big difference in the cars handling.

Count me in as part of the effort towards a critical mass !

Cheers

I got my email from Strong-strut the other day. Very cool finish options. No flexy joints. Looks to be solid. I'm getting in on it if I can see it properly installed on an M5. I know clearance is an issue, so it would be nice to be assured that the fit will be good without cutting my heatshield/sound stuff.

It would be nice to save a bit with a group buy though. The following is the text of the email I received:

What is this email all about?<o></o>
<o></o>
Dear BMW e 34 driver. As you may recall, the folks at Strong-Strut have been working on a strut brace for the e 34 off and on for quite a while now. We finally have a prototype completed and as soon as we can compile a list of interested owners, we will produce the first production run just to fill those committed orders.
<o></o>
What will it look like?<o></o>
<o></o>
If you visit this link at the Strong-Strut web site http://www.strong-strut.com/E-39.html you will see the already produced BMW e 39 strong-strut. Please notice there are a variety of photographs available, please see them all. We are showing you this because the e 34 will be identical to the e 39 model. The reason we’re not showing the e 34 prototype is because it is ugly. It is in the raw alloy and we have felt pen writing all over it. Showing it to you would serve no purpose.
<o></o>
Tell me a little about the product<o></o>
<o></o>
OK >>>>> all the parts start life as 6061 T6 hardened aircraft grade alloy and are totally CNC machined into shape from billet material. We us no cheap stampings, castings, thin hollow tubes, or flat, thin plates like our competition. This is the “Rolex” of shock tower strut braces and it is the ultimate in performance. We use no pivot points like other strut brace makers because those joints defeat the entire purpose of a strut bar in the first place. Our unique design, as seen in the detail pictures of the e 39 Strong-Strut, eliminate any movement or pivoting, yet it still allows for necessary small adjustments to compensate for factory differences in manufacturing.
<o></o>
What will it cost?<o>
</o>
<o></o>
If you check our price sheet, you will see the e 39 is $450 and the 11 machined holes (not drilled holes) in the cross bar are an optional $40 extra, as is the $15 optional stainless steel installation hardware kit. Well, the e 39 boys may have a ton of money to throw around because we sell these like hot cakes. However, we understand the e 34 drivers may be a bit more frugal with their money, so we would like to bring them in around $375. However, we hope to get enough numbers in the initial group buy (GB) to get the price down to $325. (no promises here, but we’ll try)
Whatever the price turns out to be, the decorative holes AND the accessory kit will be included at no charge, a discount right there of $55. Shipping in the continental USA, UPS ground is $15.
<o></o>
So now what?<o></o>
<o></o>
We have a list of emails we have received over the past 2 years from e 34 owners expressing an interest in a Strong-Strut for their car. We also have a new bunch of e 34 owners from the bimmernut.com forum who are joining in the GB. We’re going to contact every name we have on the e34 list and see if they are still interested and we will go from there. Please send an email to [email protected]
and tell us whether or notyou are interested in proceeding further. There is no obligation at this point. We are interested in the negative responses so we can take you off the group email list and stop bothering you. For the “positives”, we will count all the orders and apply the lowest price we can based upon those numbers. You will then be informed of that price and at that point, you drop out or make the commitment.
<o></o>
Yeah, so who are you guys?
<o></o>
We have been manufacturing Strut Braces for various BMW models for the past 8 years. We are located in Scottsdale, Arizona. Here are two convenient ways to check us out: visit this site at Roadfly.com, a BMW forum we have sponsored for 7 years http://bimmer.roadfly.com/bmw/forums/z3/search.php?st=strong+strut&dosearch=Search!&ps=20&m=natural&o=default I simply did a search for “strong strut” and you can read the results for yourself. The second method is to visit the testimonial page
At our web site http://www.strong-strut.com/testimonial_index.htm and read what fellow enthusiasts have to say about our product and service. “Strong-Strut” has become a household word among BMW drivers all over the globe. About 25% of our sales are international. We have had only one Strong-Strut returned to us in 8 years in business and that was because the owner had an atypical e 46 and the Strong-Strut wouldn’t fit it. (by a small margin)
We are a “home grown”, “cottage industry”, when you phone or email us with a question or issue, you speak directly to me, Paul, the owner. We pride ourselves on a high quality product in every way, materials, design, execution, performance and guaranteed satisfaction

Action
<o></o><o></o>
Please email us with your tentative order or refusal if that is the case. We will be contacting the interested owners with more information in the next week or so. We will NOT be offering the e 34 Strong-Strut at this GB price in the future. If you want to get the best buy, NOW IS THE TIME. When you respond, please send us your full name and that will better enable us to match it up with the long list of emails we have.
<o></o>
Thank you for reading all this and we hope you will take advantage of the GB and become a smiling member of the Strong-Strut driving family.
<o></o>
If you have questions, don’t hesitate to ask, we love talking about our products.
<o></o>
Best regards,
Paul at Strong-Strut

anyone who wants in needs to email their intentions to the strong strut people via the link i provided. It sounds like they'll be collecting money in the next week or so, with delivery of product a couple weeks after that.
