I turned the car on today and noticed a fairly high pitched squealing noise that wasn't there last night. I turned it off and on a few times and opened the hood trying to figure out what it was. The third time I turned it on the noise was gone. I think it was because the air pump that usually comes on for the first couple minutes had shut off. I washed the car yesterday at one of those wash bays where you use a high pressure water gun to wash the car yourself. I'm wondering if I got something wet relating to the air pump that was causing the noise? The sound reminded me of a loose fan belt type noise.

thanks,

nik

Don't think the airpump is belt-driven, but not sure.... normally alternator belts squeal when they're damp, if they're not tightened properly - is it possible for you to check that?

I'm pretty sure the noise disappeared when the air pump shut off. I will see how it goes today when I start up.
