Interesting to note that the M6 comes back at the more powerful B6S after 150 mph!
It just goes to show that a derestricted M6 would probably take the B6S from there on up to about 190 mph due to the extra gearing and more of it's power being produced higher up the rev range.
Ahh the shear brilliance of the M V10...you gotta love it and probably why it's the only engine to ever be awarded back-to-back International Engine of the Year in 2005 & 2006. I wonder whether it'll be able to retain it's 'performance engine of the year' category for a third time running?

we need to scrap some weight

Weight has almost nothing to do with the performance.

lose the speed limiter.

Also look at the elite company that the M6 is competing against....

weight is always a factor.

from acceleration to braking and body roll. it will always affect how a car performs.

Not really at >200 kph....drag is the big'un at that point, followed by drive-train losses.

Try again with a Dinan 5.7 engine and related bits. Delimited with 640 plus HP.
The Alpina is a modded car, so why not run a Dinan M6? Fair fight wouldn't you say?

Guessing that such an M6 would pull many tenths off 0-100 and several seconds off higher speed traps. And still a bargain for what you get.

I wouldn't say the Alpina is modded as such. That is how the car comes out of the factory and into showrooms as opposed to after market add-ons.
It's more of a reworked engine rather than modded but I agree it would probably be a fairer fight.
Although the M6 does hold it's own in this elite company. Derestricted, it would have faired much better to 300 kph plus!

Exactly. The B6S is consider a standard car. Hower it was strange that they did not have the M6 with the optional raised top speed limiter to 305 km/h to see what the 0-300 km/h time was.
