Congratulations to aussie2u, AKA Rick, for his first place finish. Both in his group and overall in the timed event. He was the fastest through the course over the two days. Tell us your technique Rick.

I was very impressed.

The most interesting thing in the garage where the Z8 was located was the two connecting rods and short skirt pistons in one of the photo's.

I don't know if other manufacturers do this but BMW cracks the connecting rod at the crank to make a more perfect fit. I guess after drilling the rods they crack them and went mated the fit if of course perfect.

Amazing! Does anyone else do this?

A tight fit here means less blown engines. Luck for us that this technology makes 4 year warranties possible, with nuts like us driving these things.

Jim,

I believe I once read that the F355 and/or NSX have their connecting rods cracked and then mated back. As expected, the fit is then perfect.

Thank you for the photos.
