Its funny you mention this, this also happened to me on the weekend, i nearly sh..t myself because I was pulling out of the drive and there was on coming traffic. I was in 2nd gear (D1), the car was cold and on a slight incline. When I took off with a slight press of the accerator the car started to edge out then bogged down. Lucky enough the nose didn't go out far enough to cause any issues. The next time I tried it 30 seconds later it did the same thing but I kept my foot on the accelerator and got up and running. Definitely a little dangerous, I probably wont use D1 again until the car warms up a bit.

In the first D program (D1) the car will start in 2nd gear (I think the manual says this too). When the engine is cold D1 (or any 2nd gear start) will cause it to surge/lunge a bit. Once it warms up this does not happen unless you are really light on the gas pedal. So I have two solutions:

Don't use D1 mode. It is seriously wimpy for an M5.

If your engine is cold let it warm up before using D1. Once warm give it a bit more foot ... after all you're starting in 2nd gear it needs so go-go juice.

Talk about opposites, my wife has never felt the full force of the V10, it probably would scare the hell out of her and she would push me to sell it (happy wife happy life). Actually come to think of it, my two year old daughter is no fun either, she is always telling me to slow down (even at the speed limit), turn the music down or close the sun roof. :crying2:

Yah I'm pretty stoked that my wife is like that ... she also loves riding on the motorcycle, or going with me to track days and riding as a passenger... she's a thrill seeker for sure.
