Hi guys, as it says in my title, My time has come.

I was just driving normall and the Red light came on and now i have two warning

A Red one saying transmission malfunction, reduced acceleration
A Yellow one saying limited gear selections possible

As for the car.... I put it in first and then gas it... nothing happens and suddenly it kicks in and lunches forwards... it's like that for every gear ****, up and down, even reverse.

Any idea what this is? thank you all very much, i will be up all night here researching now....

2 wards continously going though my mind in random sequence right now... SXXX and FXXX...

well... at least it's not the rod bearing.

Read your codes and post them before anything else. Based on your description, they will be 510D, 510E, and 4FA0 due to a failed PLCD.

Relay replaced. Car seems jerky in a different way, could be just not warmed up since last night.

I couldnt have messed anything up right? orange for orange, black for black,

car was able to back out the drive way and drive back in the garage in a very jerky manner, so everything related to the relay should have been done correctly, right?

it didn't fix anything, but I've been wanting to change the relay based on board members' recommendation so that's one thing i don't have to deal with anymore.

yes can't really mess them up. did the error messages come back? if they didn't i'd let the car warm up and maybe take it on the highway and do a SMG reset with the paddles so that it re-adapts that may fix the Jerkyness. you can search the board for directions on this if you dont know how to do it. it's really simple.

Goodluck!

the red and yellow messages are still both here... its in no condition to be driven on the highway.

Does anyone know if Carly can perform the 3 step clutch adaptation if it turns out to be the PLCD?

I had the same symptoms and codes, when engine is cold it drove alright and when it reached its operating temperature it would hesitate and slam into gear.

alright, thank you. I am now setting up my 13 year old 32bit laptop to be a dedicated machine for my bmws, as i put my wife's old SSD in and reinstalling windows vista in it.

my mechanic is not a a BMW specialist and works on all type of cars so i don't think he will have the proper equipment for this procedure.

what program do you recommend and where should i get it from? thank you so much for all the advice you've given me.

PLCD doesn't require removing the hydraulic unit, just pivoting the trans down in the rear. Replacing the pump motor certainly can't hurt, but make sure the shop knows what they are doing. Preferably not their first rodeo with it as if you remove the wrong two bolts, the pumps seals will forever leak.
