Some say yes, some say no. BMW Powertrain Plus inclusions do not list VANOS specifically as covered, but it does list "all internally lubricated parts". I have called two BMW dealers...one tech says yes it's covered, one says it is not.

I don't want to take the chance of getting this warranty only to find that my VANOS ****s the bed and BMW say "sorry" not covered, here's your enormous bill. Thanks guys...

Considering vanos is run by pumping the engine's oil at high pressure through the system, I'd assume it's internally lubricated...

You have to speak to the underwriter. Its lubrication is internal and comes from engine oil, but it is not internal to the engine block which is what most contracts usually state, i.e. engine block and all internally lubricated parts.

Some will cover, some won't, but it's a gray area you need to clarify.
