Hi all,

got the M5 mot'd today, had a good look underneath while it was on the ramp. It doesn't look too bad.

The only advisory it got was for the rear shocks leaking oil, it's still got SLS as far as i can see so i'm going to have to do something about that in future...

Now i know it's in pretty good shape i'm going to give it a good service.

Can someone tell me what's the best engine oil and viscosity to use, gear and diff oil? I'm going to inspect the valve clearances myself but if any adjustments need to be made i'd rather pay someone else to do them.

Things are looking good :)

Thanks
Alex

Thanks, yes everyone seems to use different oil. The transmition has got a slight whine so I'm hoping a gear oil change with the correct amount might cure it.
I used to put 5 litres of dextron 2 every week in my E34 pick up.

So basically you can use what ever sounds good. Nice!

I am looking after it, don't worry :)
Can I put castrol tts 2 stroke oil in it, it will smell nice then :p
I've got some pro 2 at home I used to put it in my trials bike.

I'm a big fan of 350 LC's there worth a few quid now with matching 4LO numbers but that's another discussion....

Interesting subject...

How many litres of engine oil do I need to buy?
Nice, thanks David.

I've decided to get Tesco value mineral oil it's only £1.99 a litre :)
Hahaha... Of corse :) especially after my previous S38 issue's
