Was going to go next week for Easy Care inspection :(. Think they will sign me up on a Total Care package with the CEL on? How much the dealership get for an O2 installed?
I paid around $600 with labour and taxes. I got mine done at BMW thats why. Just the sensor was around $400:(

I see you just had the same issue resolved (read thread). Do you have a warranty? Or is this not a cover part?

It could be anything, get it scanned and see what it is. No point in throwing parts at the car to guess what is wrong.

Had the same problem. Discovered it was bad gas. Get the error cleared and try a different gas station. I was getting the error every 200 miles until finally figured it was the gas. 3000 miles now and no more error.

I was driving around yesterday and it went off. PERFECT!!!! Going on Monday for my EasyCare Total Protection plan :)

Edit: Actually, I was just thinking.....the light came on shortly after filling up with Shell 93 Octane. Since I've had my car, i've ran 7-11's 91 octane. Is the M5 that picky or might it of just been bad gas?

The E60 has 4 O2 sensors. I have had the same issue / getting the warning light on and off over time. I recently go the car back from the Houston dealer after replacing two sensors. So far so good. I have only 2k miles lrft on the OEM warranty.

Also, make sure the gas capis on tight. Same thing happened to me and after removing the gas cap and putting it back on, light went away.

Topped off gas yesterday on the way to casino ($15.00 worth), drove about 150 miles no light. Got it again on the way to the gym today. I'm just going to wait until my 30-day wait period is up to file a claim thru EasyCare and get it addressed. As it only seems to lessen MPG slightly. Currently my dash reads 11.1 :) Going to try the "gas cap fix" in the mean time as well as i'll be going thru a few tanks of gas prior to.

Side question, if in fact the light does go off and I still want it checked (to get oxygen sensor(s) replaced).....will they (EasyCare TotalCare plan) allow a claim with no light and will I incur any fee other than my deductible @ the dealership?

I think the error is stored and can be read by the dealer even if it goes off. What kind of oil are you putting in the engine? The reason I ask is because during my episode I topped off in pinch with some synthetic 10w40. Perhaps this with the gas was my problem. The error still has not come back.

Yeah, mine comes back from time to time...say every 10th fuel refill. Noticed that it occurs more often from a specific gas station...so I no longer go there (shell v-power gas).

I was going to say the exact same thing. Happened to me a couple of times after the wife filled up the car. Apparently she has weak cap twisting mucles. When this happens now I follow the following steps: 1. Go to station and fill up with quality gas, 2. screw cap on tight, 3 wait a day or so. It has always gone away. If not .. then start trying stuff that costs money.

Any update on O2 sensors solving the problem? If you can get a print out of what the car is doing please post it up

I had the same "Increased Emissions" cel light and thought it might be O2 sensors on
my 2006, but it was actually the thermostat and a related sensor. The total cost to
replace was $1449...but once again the Zurich warranty paid...the code was a
P0128 I believe and I never had any cooling issues.
