Hi All, My drivers side seat wont go up / down anymore. Anyone know a good source to replace the motor? Seat is in excellent shape so only want to fix the "guts".
Thanks,
David

Hi,

It may be the seat control switch - not the motor, that has failed.

My 1995 UK LE had a similar fault - seat went up, but not down. BMW diagnosed the switch as the fault, and are replacing it at present. If you can, try by-passing the switch with some direct-wiring to see if the motor works - if it does, the replacement switch will probably save you some money over doing the complete motor.

Thank you Terry,
We have diagnosed that the "teeth" are worn on the up/down. We hear the motor running. It is the gears I need.

Thanks,
David

David,

Are you sure it's the gears that are worn? I just fixed my seats and the gears look pretty sturdy. My problem was with the cables that attach the motor to the gears.
