I'm currently looking at m5 with over 300k miles. Allegedly it's in great shape with no engine noise or issues.
The current owner has owned it for quite a short time, maybe 1-2 years. Not much point in asking questions about previous history, and i don't see any point asking the reason for sale, and I don't think I'll get a truthful answer.
What I'm wondering, at over 300 miles, is it possible for the engine to be on all original components?
I'm talking about rod bearings, vanos, timing chain, major components.
If the car is driving well and the engine sounds good, can it still be original, or does it mean those major items must've been done already?
