Thanks for posting the dyno. Did you happen to get a dyno before you added the mods? Congrats on the results my socal brother!

I did not have dyno before these mods. However, Ed told me they;ve dynoed stock M5 and M6 around 385-395.

It seems the difference between SP Engineering's dynojet
and RPi's dyno dynamics is around 5.4%. This would put a run of
424.3 at 401.4hp on the RPi dyno. That seems in line with
what we've been seeing. I'd also note that the fans they
have at SP aren't as strong.

My guess is that you'd probably be around 407ish (things being
nonlinear). That seems to be what the M5's are doing over
there with the scoops (excluding Gabe's freak). I think Eloy
is doing a meet and greet in January sometime.
You should come out and test your luck on the RPi humiliator dyno. :haha:

Would love to. Spoke with Eloy couple times, seem to be a really really nice guy.

There is no way that a stock m5 or m6 dyno's between 385-395. Try more like 415-425. Yea a lemon might dyno that low. I guess they made you believe you got a 40 rwhp gain from a air filter and exhaust. I also think you will see any gains from the scoops on a dyno. I could see them making a diffrance when your driving the car.

I installed my scoops between runs while it was on the dyno and gained 9rwhp with much weaker fans than RPI has. I asked the dyno operator what the fans were rated at and he said I dont know but not much at all. Id guess they werent any more than 25mph. I would feel safe saying that if I had a 70mph fan mine would be within a hp or two of 450rwhp with just bmc and scoops. I posted my dyno on the m6 side....429 baseline (charcoal removed and bmc) and 438 with scoops.

That was my point. Your car had a base line of 429, not 385 like zzyzx was told
Thats not on a dyno dynamics dynometer dyno... That is prob on a dynojet or that it would have such a baseline... and removing a charcoal filter and adding a hi-flow drop in is still considered a mod as it has came standard from factory as such...

Do your power and torque curves seem a little bit too up and down?
They don't seem to have the smooth lines of other power curves!:dunno:
The critical range of 4k-8,5k rpm is all that is shown. It magnifies the normal blips that would be smoothed if the x axis of the graph were 1-9k rpm. It also makes them appear flatter, especially the HP curve which usually looks very steep for S85.

I think you need a set of RPI scoops avry... I noticed they are not on your mods list and you will become a believer after a nice dyno session...

For comparison here's my SP Engineering dyno graph. It also shows
fluctuations though not as extreme as yours. As noted, it would've been
best to get a baseline dyno pre-install of any changes. On a dynojet
I've seen stock numbers as low as 405 posted on this board. There
are so many variables and even with SAE correction you can get
wild numbers. My last dyno the barometer wasn't working and I was
getting over 600rwhp! I should have gotten a printout of that! LOL!

Anyways, I need to get another dyno. Removed the plugs in my air
box a few days ago. Originally I reported some gains in the midrange
but a lose on the top end. Because I never got a pre-hole plug dyno
on that day I really don't know if the plugs were the cause of this.
It's driving me crazy. I swear if I never knew about dynos that would've
been a good thing.
