Hi all,
We all know S85 consume oil, and it was due to loose setup of the piston ring. I have been checking rod bearing issue, and today I have learned that the clearance was .001mm which is too tight. Especially, for an engine that uses 10w-60 castrol tws. I am really surprised why BMW choose such an odd configuration. As far as i understand this configuration is responsible at consuming big quantities of oil and destroying the rod bearings. Why? Is the a point that I could not figure out. Any comments?
Should we go for a thinner oil and accept huge amounts of oil consumption, or replace the bearings with a bigger clearance? (I am checking and could not find any until now. Any help would be appreciated.) Thanks.
