Need some help here please I recently purchased this car and am still getting familiar. I understand the function of the Rev. lights in the Tach, and how they gradually increase the limit (lights go out) as the engine reaches operating temperature. My question is this, Mine never seems to extinguish the final light(6500rpm) and get to the 7000rpm red portion?

The only ideas I have are either it has something to do with outside ambient temp. currently 30-40F. or I have something amiss with my car and this is some type warning. Can anyone shed some light?

I thought that initially too but just saw a video clip of the dash panel of another car while it was running and the light was not illuminated. So now I'm wondering....?

I'll have to search again to find the video.... give me a minute. I just TMS sharked mine but retained the stock rpm limit

It's 3 in the afternoon on a Friday over here.
What else would I be doing? :dunno:

Think of it as an indicator of the impending redline. Most cars have something similar, they're just not usually illuminated.

I was also under the impression that in first gear the rev limit was lower (6500?) than in the other gears (6800?). Does anyone know if this is true? I dont venture up there too often but a lot of cars do have lower rev limits in first

Wouldn't be too surprising, not much to be gained from revving high in first, it's gone in the blink of an eye anyway. A lot of turbo'd motors have boost limited in first and sometimes second too.
