Does anyone have experience or know whether Euro SMG affects California's new Smog Check rule which has begun to verify the check sum of DME's I believe came into effect late 2021?

As we have seen the last few months coding has taken off! More and more people are offering windows up with remote, full bright angel eyes with headlights on, and more. Well here is the next step. Reflashing modules!
Euro smg software features:
-4k rpm launch control with auto shift at red line in S6
-Default S5 / D1 settings from cold start (US default S3/D3)
-Smoother / quicker shifts between gears
I didn't make a video however you can find several examples of it on youtube, here is one:
Attached is a guide made by terraphantm on m3forum. You can use the exact same process however instead of using E46 files you need E60 files and instead of using the #ZB number for SMGII CSL use one of the above.
Besides already flashing many E46 M3's with different tunes I have also done Rnydyman M5 with the euro smg software who i'm sure will give you his thoughts!

The SMG can't impact the DME checksum (different computers) so that's transparent.I had no prob passing in CA a few months ago with both the euro SMG and a FAMS tune.

Yea, I was surprised as well. I had smogged with the FAMS tune a few years ago as well, so I'm guessing they look for checksum changes on a car over time as opposed to verifying against known checksums. Odd, but makes sense with my prior experience getting a S54-swapped E36 M3 legal - the ref told me manufacturers do not provide them with calibration ID/CVN lists.A passing FAMS on the other hand is surprising to me but hey if it passed all good!

Vendors probably wanted to protect themselves if SMG tune caused customers car to fail the smog. They also use terms like "off road use only" so they wont get in trouble with laws or EPA.Thanks a lot for the data point. Hey all, I'm still new to coding and flashing on the BMW side of the world. Looks like my car was flashed with the Euro tune by a previous owner. ISTA/P now wants the SMG unit to be removed before it will recode other issues. From what I can understand so far does this mean the VO wasn't updated with the Euro part number?
I'd flash the SMG back to US, then flash back to euro but this time leave the UIF unchanged. This way the SMG appears to be US while running euro flash.
AFAIK the VO tweak needed for euro smg is to change the car type to euro. No one does / should do this unless there's a reason why.
But why are you trying to use ISTA/P? If trying to go back to default just use winkfp and code whatever modules you want.
