My 2001 E39 M5 has the hi-fi audio option (UK model, not DSP), however i'm not really that impressed with the audio. The Sony Sound-on-Top amplifier I had fitted to the stock head unit on my E39 530i gave better results.

I therefore want to bypass/remove the hi-fi audio amp and fitt the SOT amp (I have the loom etc required with the quadlock adapter).

I've not had time to have a detailed look yet, but I had hoped that I could just unplug that loom that goes in and out of the hi-fi amp and plug them together, however it doesn't look as easy as this. Has anyone here removed the amp, and if so how did you do it?

Is there a small loom or connector that can be used?

Failing that is there somewhere i can easily plug in the sound on top *after* the hi-fi amp (which should be fine, as it;s designed to run with speaker level outputs from head units).

Thanks for any help.
