Just wondering howmany guys here use the V1 RadarDetector?.and if anyody has succsesfully hard wired it into the car?.and suggestions on install procedure.hanx
I have my V1 look like hard wired (next to the passenger side of the rear veiw mirror) but you can run the stock straight cord along the winshield, along the corner of the dash, down the leather by the door jam and plug into the dc plug by the passenger foot well. Have done this for a couple of M5/M6 buddies and can be done in 5 min (and easily reverseable)

Yes, V1 hardwired on M6 with hidden display in the ashtray. V1 hardwired in the RR with no hidden display. I will be getting two more V1's for the new cars soon. They are a must IMO. Life-savers. I did not wire them myself. I had a reputable shop that I trust do the work. All good audio shops can do it for you. I think I am going to try to find one of the V1 Mirrors for the M6. They are difficult to locate.

I wouldn't use anything else....I have driven cross country several times with mine and I'm here to tell you.......it has saved me from a CERTAIN ticket no less than 5 times in 6 or 7 years.....it rarely falses and 9/10 when it is beeping.....I will round a bend and there is a cop sitting there with someone pulled over.....my dad had several cheaper ones that wern't worth a crap...

I don't have any personal experience with the escort......but I own two V1's and won't use anything else.

Here's a tip.......call them and ask.......they sell refurbs with a full warranty for like $100 off or something.....or if you buy used....you can send it in for updating....although mine are both 5+years old and work perfectly and I'm sure they are not the newest versions by any means..

How long does Valentine take to send out an order? I placed an order last week and have not received any email notice or shipping info.

Word of advice: Don't hardwire it to the rain sensor cluster like the instructions (DIY) says, if you can help it. Not enough power from that wire, I have confrimed at least 4 other people other than myself that had minor issues on V1 boot up. I rewired the power and tapped the passenger footwell Cig Lighter Adapter thing.

Search it. There is a post on how to tap the passenger footwell wire. I had to redo mine a few months back.

You might like to do something similar to the V1 remote prototype I installed that makes it very easy to access and it doesn't block my view of the screen at all. Link below.

You can see that I needed to cut the tape **** further to fully expose the signal strength lights, but it been years and I haven't bothered yet. One day I'll make a proper mount as well (not just black electrical tape) but it has served me very well over time as it is.

mine just saved my a*s!!! My V1 went off right when the stop light ahead of me turned yellow....I said to myself maybe I'll stop this time and not fly through a yellow... and low and behold right around the corner waiting was a Newton cop waiting for someone like myself to speed through it... the guy next to me did just that and a second later the blue's go on and he got him.... Thanks Mr.Valentine!!!
