And you can tilt them too, but by hand. Remember that the best position is the one in which the center of the headrest lines up horizontally with your eyes.

My question is does it get memorized with the seat settings?

another question on this topic,

Are the electric head rests easy to replace? My frieind has ///M indented into his head rests in his E46 M3. I think its a nice touch and would like to get some if its a DIY and I can get hold of them. (don't know if that's standard or an option or a retrofit as his are manual).

Do a search. A member here did a swap with the M3 headrests
