Does the E39 (us spec if it matters) have a CDV (clutch Delay Valve)
No only as to M5. Check Dave Z's website, I believe the info is there.

The E39 models all have the CDV except for the M5. It is definately a pita to deal with. Hope this helps.

The M5 does not have one. But what is really suprising is that the Z8 does have one! I almost fell over the first time I was under a Z8 and saw the evil CDV hanging off the clutch slave cylinder. I ran over to my PC and looked it up on the ETK. Sure enough, it uses the same CDV as the E39 540i 6-Speed.

I dont think there are very many Z8 owners out there who still have a stock CDV on their car. They've either come here to have it swapped or I've sent them a modified valve. I've even sent them to Switzerland, UAE, Bahrain, the UK, Spain, Germany, Canada and many other countries.
