Since no one has come foward with direct experience, I suggest looking here for direction to independent BMW specialists:

BIMRS - Independent BMW Service on Planet Earth

This doesn't guarantee expertise with the beast but a couple of phone calls should lead you to someone you'll be comfortable with.

I was surprised to see that nobody has any suggestions. I regularly see members from Orlando posting.

I've had good luck with two independent BMW specialists in the Orlando area.

Jim Shoemaker at German Motorwerks
James at Eurotech

I would trust either one of these guys to do a thorough PPI.

Are any of them specialists with M cars?

Both are BMW specialists. Not sure anyone could stay in business if they only specialized in "M" cars.

Jim Shoemaker had 15+ years experience as a BMW tech for the local new BMW dealer. He opened his own shop years ago. He's also a mechanic for various professional (ROLEX / GRAND AM) pit crews. German Motorwerks is a single mechanic shop and all the work is done by Jim. He just moved into a bigger shop in Longwood a few months ago. His wife Deborah Pandeline is the social director for the local chapter of the BMWCCA and works at the shop with Jim.

James is the owner of Eurotech and is the local Dinan affiliated dealer. I've seen numerous "M" cars at his shop, including a beautiful 850CSI. Eurotech also does work on Mercedes, but the shop is filled with mostly BMWs. Not sure if that speaks to a quality difference or if he just prefers BMW (my guess)!! James has several mechanics on his staff and all have been there awhile. His shop is in Winter Park.

I've had work done at both shops and been satisfied with the results. As I said, I would trust either one to do a PPI for me. It might be easier to get into Eurotech simply because Jim travels on many race weekends.

If you have any other questions, you can call me at (407) 718-9254.

Good luck!

Chris
