Hmmm if you asked me that question.. I would have to say this one right here...

One day in the M5 back in Boston (with only having the SS cat back exhaust, K&n filters, and CU)..I was at the lights and took off with say 1/3 throttle... and going through the gears... The next thing i know is a screaming machine that sounded like it was knocking on 10,000 rpm next to me!!! i turned my head to see this little bug (sorry couldnt find another word) i mean honda to the left of me and really slowly pulling ahead (turtle speed).. not just that but his girlfriend was waving in the passenger seat at me as they slowly pulled ahead...!!

Oh boy... Somebody made a really big mistake! So i followed them to the next lights.. DSC off Sport ON.. First gear engaged.. 1500 rpm engine speed.. Clutch half engaged and the beast raging to attack!

The lights turned green.. i came off the clutch with my right foot buried and left the line with the wheels spinning almost through the whole of first gear.. My concern before getting off the line was me smashing into the little insect that was trying to race.. So i quickly switched lanes and dropped it in second and zoomed by the honda as they were not moving while leaving 6 feet of rubber behind... I had to take a quick look to only see the chick shocked with her jaw dropped to the ground

hehehe thats for messing with the beast

You got your car back???
How can you even race in 1st gear? hiha
I have trouble hitting it in 2nd. I got into a funny race this weekend.
One mustang in the 11's Vs. mustange in the low 12's but higher trap speed than the 11's were racing each other. These guys been wanting to race me for months. I told them I'd chase them. Race started at 40. They were in second, I was in third. I seen the black smoke come from there cars(I was about 2-3 cars behind them).... well, I hit it to. By the time I shifted into fourth, I was next to them and at the top of fourth i was about 2 cars ahead. In the middle of 5th, They were little dots in the rear view. :M5launch:

We went back to the meet up spot, and these guys could not believe it. They said.." dang, that thing really does have 1000 hp". I told them I wasn't sure what it had, but its fast. So finally the group of car nuts here are bugging out.

Hehehe...nice one philly...I'd imagine that the 1st to second shift isn't easy with all the gs in your car. :M5rev:

I noticed that your location says chicago/grand rapids. What's the deal with that? If you're near chicago with your beast, you need to get out to a chicago meet. I'd love to see the famed 1000hp beast in action!

hehehe no not really but i will get her back tomorrow.. finally !!! and i cant wait!! mmmmmm

Regarding your question, well first of all i have the stock 3.15 ratio diff (which is a bit better than yours in terms of traction) but what really helps me alot is the rear subframe which you dont have on your car. I actually tried only once flooring it in first from a rolling speed.. and it got off smoothly till the top of first gear where i lost traction... dropped it in second and it took off without a problem..

However i am thinking of getting the 3.45 diff inorder to have a stronger mid range and top end :1: want to swap ?

mubarak,
I couldnt let a honda go home thinking that he beat the beast could i ? My plates were BMWM5 and he could not be mistaken for something else so i had to show him what it was all about :hihi:

Im tempted about the swap idea. Tough call.

As far as that Subframe.... Let me know some more info.
1. How much?
2. Who makes it?
3. How much safer is it? stronger?

thanks,

josh.

Abdulla has a rear strut tower brace which your car did not.... that is the only difference.

not really a kill, but a fun 'event'...

67 camaro, very clean, very healthy sounding. I was admiring it at a stoplight one summer evening. Older guy driving it, had my 9 year old in the car, i was sitting in neutral, a/c on... Light turns green, he launches... what the, ok, i'm game, empty road, no traffic in sight. In a haze if tire smoke and wheel hop, he is no longer pulling away, i'm right about at his rear bumper. Second gear, a bit more wheel hop, he pulls ahead slightly but as i approach the top of second, i'm at his back window. Third gear, a bit more tire screech, my front bumper is at his window, as we approach the top of third we're neck and neck. We're coming up on traffic now, and discrection tells me to let off and let him go ahead of me (traffic in his lane).... Do not ever tell mom about this Joe..... she'll never let you in the car with me again. Next time i'll shut off the A/C and be ready in first gear...

I pulled up next to my childhood dream car a few weeks back...a 1969 Chevelle SS396. It looked perfect, and that big block just sat at the light with it's rumpity-rump, rumpity-rump idle. It looked to be a nicely restored and stock example as far as I could tell. I rev'd the motor a bit and inched up some, and he was ready to go. A quick tap of DSTC to off, revs to 4000rpm, light turns green, clutch dump and floor it. I heard him roaring right next to me, barking 2nd gear real hard almost the same time as me. By halfway through 3rd gear, I had a 1/2 car length lead on him. He was a bit shocked as he said at the next light...I was in my wife's Volvo V70R. :haha: Haldex AWD really helps the launch in that car, so that surely helped here, but still...the M5 would have really dusted him off. Amazing how what I once considered monster cars are now just ho-hum performers. I doubt he has told his buddies about that one. ;)

hiha hiha That's great!
My favorite happened 2 years ago against a 18 year old tool driving an Audi A4. He cut me off last minute to get to an offramp, which is a real nice cloverleaf (101N to Ralston westbound for those who live in the bay). I kept up behind him, braked for the corner, and had to brake harder as he slowed down a heck of a lot more than I was planning on. I kicked the tail out, and ended up holding about 1/2 turn of countersteer through the offramp, about 10' behind his car. After the offramp, we both lined up at the stoplight.
The kid looked at me and gave me a thumbs down. I guess drifting a stock E34 525i Auto while your left ankle is in a walking cast and there is a handicapped placcard hanging from the mirror just isnt cool anymore...:haha:
I couldnt help but yell "What do you think of my moms car?"
