245 is way out of spec and whoa. :)

275 is ideal for a 9.5 ie. the stock tire and wheel size in the rear. 265 and 285 fit.

the recommended rim size for that tire is 10 to 11", therefore a 9.5 is too small.

it may 'fit', but I go by mfg spec.

Go to tirerack.com, find the tire, click on "spec", find the size, read across to the specs: they have a recommeded range as well as a specific width that was used for the other measurements (tire width, rotating diameter, etc)

This is critically important info what changing from stock. It can also vary a bit with the same size tire from diff mfgs....

M5_SMG.... pretty strange looking tire/wheel set up you have there (another post) definitely need bigger rubber!

Thanks Ard.

Yeah, tires are waaaaaaay to small. The fronts aren't too bad, but the rear wheels are bulging out a mile past the tires. I know with some other cars that if you change the rolling diameter you can have the ECU reset to the new rolling diameter to keep your speedo accurate. Any idea wether this is possible with the M5?

My front wheels are 20 x 9.5 and the rears are 20 x 11, so I'm thinking 265-275 upfront and 305-315 rear. I'm not too worried about keeping the correct rolling diameter (I know, I know ... naughty thing to say) as its hard enough finding any tires to suit these wheels. What do you guys reckon?

Omar, sorry didn't mean to hijack your thread ouich

Note for the rear, the rolling diameter is only off by 0.6 inches 25.6(stock) versus 26.2

for the fronts they make a 285/25-20... but no published specs on tirerack.

(A rhetorical question, but why would one buy rims and not have the tires and fitment all spec'd out...) Well, unless they were free or just about! :)

he's got 19's not 20's...so an 11" wide wheel would fit the 295 or 305. The real question is with the offset will that clear the fender without and changes.

I'm confused.

I thought smg had 20s and Omar had 19s... I was replying to smg.

Fender clearance, rubbing, offsets, spacers, are all other (unaddressed) variables.

Sorry my mistake, missed the name. None the less he's looking at 265-275 on the front...and 295 to 305 on the rear. I can't really see any reason to go past 295 either.

The reason why I'm sorting out the tires after the fact, was that it was a set deal. Tires and wheels, take it or leave it. The price was good enough that I accepted it and am now sorting out the tires.

The only reason I'm considering 305 rears is cause I'm still a little wary that 295 will cover the wheels, theirs a fair bit of space to go. Thanks!

295 will cover it the way it should, the ferrari 575 comes like this.
