Fabulous question ! Are there any original owners here who had everything from the factory !?
In mine, top storage compartment has the tire flat fix package, air pump and the sealant.
Bottom compartment has the Bluetooth, and another electronic module in it (have to disconnect battery red cable to get to it).

For free: picture of what I keep in the trunk. Wife saw my pre-measured 1 quart oil containers and was not too happy we drive around carrying oil, foxwell NT510 scanner, ignition coils, and a tire patch kit, not to mention jumper cable.

That's the trunk lid tool kit.

For the OP, the bottom layer is only modules, no accessories (TPMS, PDC, etc). Guessing since you don't have green fiber optics you either have a CIC retrofit or most everything has been moved to the side trunk, per BMW SIB. I'm guessing the former since it would be odd to relocate all but one module... then again, not sure what all is covered in the sedan version of the SIB.

The big hole on the left of the top tray looks like a manual hitch ball. US cars didn't come with hitches but Euro M5/M5Ts did so they probably just made a common tray for all M5s.
