My ideal garage would be an M5(for the family), 550 Maranello(for the wife and I), a Viper GTS(for me), an old Ferrari like a 330GTC or 365 GTB4 Daytona(for the concours circuit) and a open wheel car for the track like a Formula Mazda,Ford or Dodge. Now that would be the life !!

1. My M5 - daily driver / people hauler
2. My 996TT - weekend fun
3. McLaren - balls out
4. Any old 4WD SUV - beater/hauler/mudder
5. 1928 Triple cockpit Garwood

Extra credit - anyone know where the expression "balls out" comes from? I do - and it is amusing. But I'll let someone else claim the glory if they know.....

Five?? Gotta spread them out a bit... Can't have five sportscars.

Suburban 2500 Towing, hauling, people mover in all weather and road conditions.

BMW 750iL Luxury Car for going out on the town, weddings, funerals, or out with another couple.

F360 Spyder Top Down fun. Driven only on days where ambiant temps are between 60 and 85 with NO chance of rain (ie the top will never be put up, ever).

McClaren F1. Ultimate sportscar. remove extra two seats.

Let's see. Need an antique thrown in there somewhere... How about a classic like a 1930's vintage Packard Phaeton, or Duesenberg. Or, a 1967 Corvette 427 convertible.

Answer: An early engine mechanical governor design utilized a pair of masses (balls.) Centrifugal acceleration pushed the masses outward, so "balls out" refers to the maximum possible engine speed. What's the prize ?!

Well being that I'm 25 and single, I could theoretically get away with 2 girlfriends. But the wife thing was just thinking into the future when I 'settle' down.

Re: The origins of the phrase "Balls Out"

You are absolutely right. Your prize is - I owe you a bottle of wine. All you have to do is come here to collect it.
