Does anyone know how to change the oil filter on the M5? I unscrewed the top of the canister where the filter is but it the filter cartridge won't come out. There must be some type of trick to taking it off. Help!
Evidently the oil filter is a pressure fit into the oil canister. After you remove the plastic cap, take a rag and twist off the filter, it should come off with a little tugging.
When changing the oil filter be sure to use BMW parts including o-rings. Tighten according to specs. Over tightening can be just as bad as under tightening. Leaks can occur and or getting the bloody thing loose next time can be involved.
In short this is not for beginners.
