Hey All.

Finally had to add a litre of precious 10w60 to the beast. I waited until dipstick showed that it needed a full quart.

This is the first time I've had to add oil since purchasing the car in October 2004. It has gone over 14,000 Km since I bought it, and only burned a quart.

Anywho, I figured that was pretty good oil consumption, so just thought I would share.

Happy Beasting,

I know that the 2000's burn a lot of oil, but what is normal for the 2002 and up. I am getting my 02 this weekend and want to know if I have to always be ready to add oil at any given moment. I thought the 2000's went through a quart every 1000 miles, but I could be wrong.

I've got some information that's contrary to the claim on the 2000's. I've got a Feb 2000 build car, and during the most recent usage I consumed less than 750ml of oil in 5,875 miles since the last change (Aug 2004). I'm changing the oil this weekend and going to get a sample tested just to see how the 10w60 is performing at that interval.

The type of usage: typically short trips <10 miles, weekly runs of spirited driving on the back roads, a few highway trips around 600 miles round trip. Fall and Winter temps of 35 - 75 degrees Farenheit.

My car production date is 4/10/00, I have put 3k miles since my last oil change and the oil level is still at the full line on the dipstick. My car has 40k miles on it using 10/60 OEM:M5thumbs:

Yes, well we know how you drive! :D Sometimes burning a little oil and a little rubber go hand in hand.
