I own a new E39 M5 since last april. At 2700 BMW had to add 1 liter of oil, now at 4200 km again they had to add 1,5 liter. BMW Netherlands claims that this usage of oil will remain until 15.000 km, and that after that period oil usage will decrease or even disappear. Does any 'more experienced' M5 driver have anything to mention about this subject?? I am worried.. Also, my gas usage is 1 liter on every 6,5 km. I think that's outrageous. Will it stay that way?

My experience has been the same. Don't worry -- it's normal. I had to add one liter at 800 miles (1300km), and another at 1500 miles (2400km). Right now I'm at 7800 miles (12500km), and am adding about a liter of oil every 1200 miles (1 liter per 2000km or so).

As far as fuel consumption goes, I'm averaging about 14 miles/gallon. That's about 6.0km/liter, so you're actually getting a bit better than me

Gas consumption has remained steady as long as I've had the car (well, it uses more when I drive more agressively, of course), and oil consumption has been declining.
