Anyway this could be done with a 2000 model?
I have installed it on an MKIV Nav System and if your 2000 model has the same then I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work...

Hey Eugene, nice work! I'm very interested in doing this mod. Got a list of parts you used and tips on the install?

Thanks Dave! Got the kit used from a fellow X5 owner and installed it on the M5... I have a second set that'll go on the X5...

301 007 contains both the camera kit and the video switchbox kit.

Here's a link to more details on X5World.com

Thanks for the link. I'll look into it. How was the install all things relative? Lots of wires to run or was it pretty close to plug and play and easy to mount up?

Very easy install except for the part where you need to route cable from the trunk lid to the trunk area... Just one wire harness from trunk lid (right side) to the Nav area (left side), pretty much plug-n-play type of install as you're using OEM wire harness & parts.

Dan,

Let me know if this works... Not sure why you can't see the pics from the first post.

Trunk open and camera facing the garage ceiling...

Took my sweet time and got it all done in 2hrs.

Basically the steps are:

1. remove trunk lid trim
2. remove trunk lid switch
3. install camera with new trunk lid switch
4. connect one end of harness into camera control module
5. route cable harness from trunk lid to trunk area... took the longest time...
6. route cable harness from right side to left side (NAV area)
7. tap power from left side reverse light into harness
8. remove NAV computer and use cable included with camera
9. connect cable from NAV to video switchbox
10. connect camera harness from trunk lid to video switchbox
11. test system
12. secure and hide cables
13 replace trunk lid trim
