Hi M5ers,

As Iw as reading Gustav's trip to Nowack,
I went to their web site http://www.m5-n500.de/en/index.htm
and saw a video clip (video#2 small) of the
Nowack 503hp M5.
The engine sounded really sweet but towards the end I hear couple loud knocks and the car stops accelerating. My question is this normal? or the engine suffers from heavy modification?

now that i listen to it again, i think alpywhite might be right. that does sound like the redline computer kicking in.

had the unfortunate experience of redlining in second as i came out of a tollbooth and was watching merging traffic more than my tach.

that noise is reminiscent. sorta like the damn car just shut down. i thought i'd hit something or blown the engine it was such a bizarre deceleration (or more accurately it was probably just a sudden cessation of the beast's prodigious acceleration). regardless. it was unpleasant and i remember an odd noise that made me think "f'in-a i blew the engine!".

They would want to graph the entire powerband via the dyno, so it acutally makes sense that the technician is pulling it up to cutoff.

In the "small" video it soounds to me like he's getting it into third gear and pulling it right from about 1000 RPM. What doesn't make sense is that he hits fourth and doesn't let the revs come all the way back down for a more complete reading.

Oh well...still sounds like death incarnate...must get exhaust myself.
