I'd imagine there could be a filter "sock/sleeve" type cover for folks who live in very wet areas, similar to the dinan cai induction kit.
dinan no longer uses the filter sock, they have baffles in their latest version to keep water away from the filters.

update :

The foglights will still be usable if required
- whe have played with everything from " AC Schintzer type " fornts total closed to wider open designs and all fits well .

We will provide a modifed plastic bracket that allows air to come in beside the foglight , there will also be a black mesh piece priovided to prevent debris from entering.

Which of the TWO provisions mentioned-above will prevent Road WATER or Water Puddles from hitting the Air Fliter and possibly being sucked up into the motor ? ?

HI

as long as your oem wheel arch liners and undertray are in good condition on the car , then very little , if any , water will ingress anyway .

The mesh will also help protect over soaking .

I believe we should make up an additional splash guard anyway , something we will do as soon as final positions for induction tubes and filters are sorted

thanks

more updates as we receive them at the CA Newsdesk ;)

LATEST NEWS :

M5 S/C is really starting to work well now, new injectors fitted and mapped in and power level are where we were hoping . The only thing bothering us just now are the
intake temps that we need to take down further .

The current intercooling is insuffient for +20 degrees outside temp combined with highspeed/revs driving .

Also some minor upgrades to the piping has been carried out , following latest testing , as basically the OE' stuff we used (as in previous photos) is not reliable enough.
We will make an aluminium/silicon version instead.

On wednesday PBMW Mag. is passing by to take some photos and have a testdrive, then the car is going into the garage again to solve the problems above.
(we will make tests with both A/A intercooling and upgraded W/A intercooling)

Also the copyprotection ECU boads have arrived and seem to work fine, we are now setting up the hardware needed to be able to program and distribute mapped ecu's.

thanks

M5 latest note: Final mappings/adjustments for the twin/SC is booked for late oct / beginning of nov, and will be done on a "pre-production" customers car. - it will take about 1 week
- then we will start shipping out kits.

We need manufactured year/month and VIN numbers of the cars on any new orders since both software and hardware differs

ok from what i have observed so far. the AA kit and the kit from CA Auto looks to me that they the same kit. i may be wrong, but how do two companies so far away have the same design and the time line for the release of the kits. btw CA Auto is the UK distributor for AA. and why is that 4 differnet companies are working on SC kit all at the same time and with the same time frames. ouich something doesn't make sence here.
i think the M5 community is being toy'd with here. my $.02.

Our european kit has nothing to do with active autowerke's kit ; they are not the same .

However they are extremely similar , which makes sense as there is only one correct way of doing things ; in addition the M5 engine and bay configurations in particular only really allow for one kind of layout/ design .

we will be selling both the AA kits and our version side by side . We suggest customers form USA , S America , Australia etc opt for the AA kit and European customers opt for this kit . That way shipping costs and software issues are optimal for each customer .

Obviously it is customers choice at the end of the day .

Hope this clears it up

Out of interest , who are the other 2 tuners that are working on this then ?

thanks

I have not heard anything from the UK distributor of ESS, where I had reserved the number one slot for the kit in RHD form. I did this about one year ago, so pretty poor effort on the communication front.

Now sold the car anyway, but I guess this is symptomatic of the development issues respected tuners are having with the kit.
