hi guys

just to be clear , we have no components or car at Gosport for you to see , let me clear on that as i dont want you guys coming down on the wrong assumptions.

We are working in conjunction with another european tuner on this, he has the test car and kit atthe moment , and I will be going over to see him and it and also the other V8 we are having built for the M6 project we also have on .

I am very happy to meet with you all still this weekend to discuss fitting , likely cost s, scheduling etc , or you may prefer to wait until we are more ahead on the test car and have the waranty issu emore wrapped up , I really dont mind either way , just let me know

regards

I think it is still worth coming down Roy as I have a long list of questions for you, many of which you will want to take with you on your trip to get answered if you haven't already had them answered.

Would be helpful if you have any update on the warranty front as well, as one of the previous posts suggest you would have something by now.

Sounds like an excellent piece of kit.

Roy - you're welcome to come up for our meet on July 3rd in Rickmansworth and tell us more about this. Will you have any bits to show us by then? (or better yet a demo/test car!).

Ed, there should be alot more information in a few weeks, once roy has visited the tuning company carrying out the prototype tests and has physically seen the test subject car(s) in person, should hopefully have alot more pics of the proposed end production kit.

Here in no particular order is the points I noted:

1. The suggestion was that there are no changes to the internals other than bigger injectors. Steel sleeves are being considered for another concurrent project they are running (capable of taking 800-900bhp), but not necessary for this particular application.
2. There will be no other changes that have to be made to install the kit, although throttle bodies, velocity stacks, headers, cats etc are suggested.
3. Clutch, brakes, suspension, rear sub-frame changes essential. Possibly also lightweight flywheel if you can put up with the clatter.
4. No changes to gearbox internals, differential, driveshafts etc.
5. Oil pump/other peripherals relocated? TBC, the development car is LHD, so RHD versions may require slightly different modifications.
6. Intercooling system/water injection system? TBC
7. 6-7psi application; no change to compression ratio
8. 610bhp on the dyno - delivery more akin to a turbo than a typical supercharger (see dyno plots previously posted); what we mean by this is that the delivery will be less linear with this install, so there will be a slight turbo-like kick in the back higher up the rev range, but not turbo lag per se.
9. Revs to be limited in top to protect the crank? TBC
10. Warranty? TBC.
11. 2 days' install approximately.

Tin/Steve please add anything I have missed.

As Tin says, there will be a lot more information in a couple of weeks after Roy's visit to the workshops.

Watch this space!

thanks roger, just to add that this 610 bolt on kit is a detuned version, which has a full potential of over 700hp if all the supporting items can take the power, ie uprated internals/different compression would be required. It will be detuned for mainly for reliablity. The dyno plot above is taken on a completely stock lhd m5, hence with a full exhaust system, lightweight flywheel, uprated camshafts, power should be higher than the 610, also depends how good your engine example is, ie how true to the 394hp BMW quote. (the one in the dyno plot, is very healthy good example, pushing 550Nm torque from standard). Also note that dyno readings are different all over the world.

Also that the plenum chamber will be split/partitioned so that each supercharger system channels air directly to each cylinder bank. The Ecu will be mapped to ensure that there is an equal amount of airflow into the chamber, mafs will continue to be used, just remounted along the airflow route. The will be somekind of safe mode to fall backon incase one or both superchargers fail, so that the engine can continue (similar to the bmw oem limp home mode), if not the very same.

If anyone has a dyno plot of a single supercharged kit on the m5, such as the dinan s3, would be nice to compare the torque curves, see if the power delivery is similar, further down the rev range or higher up the rev range...

hi guys

here is the latest update on the bi compressor kit :

M5 S/C DEMO is being put together now as we speak, a 02 car was also fitted last weekend and we found that the plastic upper plenum that came with the 02 models cannot
take the boost, (it cracked over 0.5 bar) so we need to provide modified pre 02' aluminum upper plenums in the kit for 02 and newer cars.

more updates soon , we are also looking into the Right hand drive issue

hmm.. having an older car wins again! (presumably).. older cars have aluminium cover as opposed to plastic :p still makes it worthwhile going for a CF variant :wroom:
