Let’s not forget that the electrical motors and modules throughout this car trend toward a MTBF of 2000-2500 hours. They had to degrade the wiring to match the durability of the electrical system. They did a damn good job of limiting the durability of the power train, with the half *** rotating assembly specs and BS SMG system. The fluids are actually “lifetime”, if they had to redo it, they would have removed the drain and fill plugs in the gearbox and diff. Thank god they were coerced in to cramming in an outdated carryover manual tranny.

The reality is that these next 10 years with the 4-6th owners and general lack of real maintenance and repair, this will ensure that well over 50% of the M5s built are no longer in service.

No it's the commie pinko eco rat bastards that thought they were being better 'global citizens' by spec-ing biodegradable wiring insulation as opposed to using something that it's specs met its use.
To be more fair, they are socialist greenie weenies... In Germany they really do have a Green Party as a significant political party. They shut down their nukes to be more green. Now they have to burn coal and import natty gas from Russia. They are simply brilliant sometimes.

Some fun reading to divert attention from US politics.

Germany Is a Coal-Burning, Gas-Guzzling Climate Change Hypocrite

Germany is indeed a master hypocrite. This doesn’t even cover the topic of Diesel gate where Bosch help VW, Audi, Porsche and possibly MB and BMW circumvent emissions tests. That’s effing brilliant.

One of their biggest export industries is military weapons, only the US is bigger. But they refuse to meet their pledge to fund their own defense, so we have to pay for it.

Still, I’m keeping my V10s and HKs...

Well I have been looking for that holder ever since I saw in the wiring diagram there was some provisions. Likely that’s not a giveaway pigtail, but I can build the harness. If I really get bored I may one day try to figure it out. Adding it to the FA seems easy enough tho. I need ze switch, it’s probably called Sturmgewehrtürtastatur. Probably would have to go to Germany to see a real car with all the hardware to see how it works, unless someone here knows.

That looks like a Schmidt+Bender with a Spuhr mount this setup would be more valuable than the car itself.

Das kannone in ze fog light position?
I think a nice button depicting the MP5 on the forward center console replacing the passenger's tummy ticklers button. Easy enough to 3D print, but I'd rather find the real button and real location. I already have plans for replacing the light switch assembly with the HUD and Nightvision.

The night vision option is super cool. It’s one I wish I had. I would love me an hk416 too or mp5. Both would be ideal.

Are those banned in kiwiland Iike oz too? They were all just banned last month in CAN. A real HK417 would be a good since you actually take out medium sized game. I’d trade in my SMG for one of those. I don’t need or want full auto, but those things are very rare for civilians. Now I’m curious on what other options BMW had for long gun storage too.

Hmmm, SMG could have various meanings here..
Hopefully PM Horseface doesn't accidentally also ban sequential manual gearboxes in her fervor/stupidity down in NZ.

Thread drift is mein fault!
Stukas back on ze target bitte!

Yeah they are effectively banned in nz now. I used to shoot 3 gun there with a nice ar15 and beneli m2 TTI shotgun. They are not 100% banned in aus but the licence you need makes them as good as banned for 99% of people. The only things the masses can buy without too much hassle in aus are non semi auto shotguns and rifles and semi-auto handguns. I’m in aus (flags look the same I know).

I have played with those hk’s and if I lived somewhere ‘normal’ I’d own one even though they are stupid expensive (also don’t really care about select fire, semi auto is fine for me).

did you happen to replace the o-rings in the clutch control valve? I've dissected two of these and both had signs of oring wear/tearing on the larger lands. Not too hard to remove that one as its in the side of the hydraulic pump block.

3 gun is fun, I 've never really had the time for that, but do some long range stuff 800m. I spend more time on the track instead and lately fixing broken M5s. In the US the civilian version of the 417 is the MR762, which is generally available all the states except the communist ones. Most of it is made in the US due to the laws passed in the 90s. It has a US made barrel but it longer which actually works out fine. It is really impressive for accuracy given it is not designed to be a long distance rifle. The trigger break is wonderful, very similar to how great the S85 sounds. As you know accuracy really starts to drop off with a 7.62 outside of 800m but I've been able to hit the gong at 900m. I don't think I've ever hit the 55 gallon drum at 1k but I'd need a spotter since it doesn't ring there are other people there too. Just reinforces, it's not the rifle, not the person behind the trigger, just like on the track, it's not the car or the HP that will be the limit but the driver.

In the US, a real 417 (german made barrel and control group) can only be had through some type of former ex-military service sell off, which is unlikely to happen since they are still in service. If it ever had burst or FA it must be cut up and that's then not worth as much. I've heard that some US Park Rangers, had the 417 with single and semi. I see one of those easily being worth 10-12k.

with the these thumbnails on my phone even harder to spot the difference. Another reason why you guys need to switch the boxing kangaroo.
