I am now the proud owner of Kurt's M5.

Absolutely over the moon - the 250 mile drive home was a delight ... I can't stop grinning!

As expected, low speed accelleration isn't the strongest point but once up to 80 the thing pulls like a train and I've been making full use of the "speed limit" function on the computer :haha:

I dont find the low speed acceleration on my 3.6 to be much of an issue, only annoying thing is low rpm driving around town where the throttle jumps on the initial move from idle rpm to actually moving - but I'm getting used to the feel of those throttle bodies now :)

Congratulations on the purchase. Unfortunately my wife has found the speed limit function and annoys the **** out of me by turning it on all the time :-(

Stephen - glad you like the car - it couldn't have gone to a nicer bloke. I wish you many miles of enjoyable sMiles....

I must admit to not having the usual feelings of 'closure' now that she's gone. And the thought of a Volvo on the drive doesn't seem quite so appealing now that I'm actually in the position to buy one. M5 Touring with 7 seat conversion anyone??

Stevie, I can see Dunoon out the window at the moment ... I live in Greenock :byee55amg

Thanks for the welcome and Kurt, at least you've got your other toys to keep you going!

I have done about 500 miles since Saturday now - it's growing on me with every mile .... I am really suprised how loud the standard car is ... I keep seeing people turn and look as I snarl up the road!

Can't stop grinning when I look at it either :haha:

Hi guys, just an update ... I've been very quiet!

Car needed a bit of work and my expert had identified some future work that needed taking care of as well, so I decided to get absolutely everything done before I start using the car to future-proof it!

So far:
Both rear springs were broken and have been replaced
Water pump replaced
Brake/fuel/EDC lines all replaced (they broke on me on my 2nd spirited drive - a proper shakedown :haha: )
Back axle removed - some badly fitted bushes that needed replacing. They also caused metal on metal contact at the rear and it was badly corroded - this has all been properly sorted and waxoiled
Everything steam cleaned
Interior professionally valleted (alcantara was a bit dirty)
Cat pipes replaced - they did not have a central collector so the lambda sensor was only working on one half of the 3-1 manifold, hence lumpy idle - new decat will sort
A little bit of welding at the front of the engine - a crack had appeared in something (I've forgotten which) which is fairly common
New clutch master cylinder (old one was leaking)

Get it back next week and can't wait

This M5 ownership ain't cheap, eh? :wroom:

nebpor, where is your specialist about ? although I would sh*t myself if I had a 'to do' list like that in one go, its good that the guy can spot all the gippy bits.
Agree with jonsmiff, good to hear of another e34 in Scotland, there must be about 8 or so board members with cars in Scotland now.
cheers,
Phil.

Cheers - I intend keeping the car in Cheltenham (where I work most of the time) hence I thought I would get everything sorted whilst I had access to the guy who can do a proper job and future proof everything!

Fair Kudos to Kurt - a lot of the problems weren't evident on first sight and I had my eyes open on what I was getting into!

Email me at [email protected] if you want to get in contact with the expert looking after mine - he works from home just outside Kilmarnock and his knowledge and quality level are absolutely fantastic :)
