Sorry, I am not sure where I should put this at, but anyhow the source is (provide you can read traditional chinese)

http://news.chinatimes.com/Chinatim...3,17010103+172005040800740+20050408+1,00.html

there will be new engine line up for 7 series (and I would assume those engine would go on to 5 series as well)

730i 2996c.c. 258hp/6600rpm 30.6kgm/2500﹣4000rpm
740i 4000c.c. 306hp/6300rpm 39.8kgm/3500rpm
750i 4799c.c. 367hp/6300rpm 50.0kgm/3400rpm

we already know about the new 3 liter and the 4.4 liter replacement, but the 4 liter V8is new (replace the 3.5 liter V8, which never comes to the States anyway). So do you guys think there will be a 540i due to this? or the north american market will stay with the 530i(with the new 3 liter) and 545i (soon to be 550i) only. I personally think this 4 liter V8 will be pretty nice, cheaper than the soon to be 550i with same hp as E500.

Sorry, but where have you been ?

The new engines were announced months ago, and the 7 Series facelift shown at the Geneva show in March

The new 530i and 525i R6 engines went into production in March 2005, and USA customers have started taking delivery already ( see normal E60 boards )

The 550i has been confirmed for September 2005 production by dealers around the world

I thought they only annouced the 4.8 liter V8 (750i) and the new 3 liter (on 330i, soon to be on 730i, not for the States obviously), it's the first time I have seen a report on new 4liter V8 (based on the 3.5 liter V8 that never came to the States).
