Car has been running really well (aside from needing a new clutch as I can feel it slip at lower speeds with a spirited pedal). The engine starting running very rough and went into limp mode setting off the CEL obviously. I immediately pulled over and pulled the codes. Jaw dropped that it set off 29 codes... Not sure what they all mean when put together other than the thermostat code I am aware of. That one has been going off and on for about a month. On for 3 days off for a week-ish. The codes I pulled are below. The car now starts up just fine with some idle hunting and then after about 1-2min it starts to run rough and cuts engine to limp more (only 4500k rpm available at all times). Thank you guys for any help you are willing to offer.

Sounds like you have a generic scanner (P-codes). You need a bmw specific tool to properly read codes. I'd reset and see what comes back. Although a bad alt/regulator will light up the dash like a christmas tree I don't remember anyone reporting engine getting into failsafe mode. Start with that tho, just measure voltage under the hood while running and see what you get.

I will give that a try tomorrow morning. Should be outputting 14.4V correct? Thank you!
