Apperently Momentum does not do PPI's anymore. Where else is really good?

Let me know ASAP so I can tell pervious owner where to take it for me :)

Thanks again

Any thoughts?
Tim-

You might try Matthew's Auto (http://www.matthews-auto.com). He is a frequent contributor at our local BMWCCA chapter events and at least we can hold him accountable if he were to miss something on your car.

Tim-

Advantage BMW in midtown/downtown will do a PPI for you. Dennis Orts (SA) did one for me 3 weeks ago. $200.

The number is 713.289.1256
Dennis' direct number is 713.289.1273
Thanks!

That's odd that they will and Momentum won't. They are both owned by the same company.

If they won't try BMW of Houston North/BMW of Houston The Woodlands (both owned by Autonation). 936.271.6000. Ask for Jeff in service.

I have to ask, what is a PPI?

Mark
Pre Purchase Inspection :)

Sanjay took a look at her yesterday and here is his report.

Hey Tim,

I saw and drove Dell's car yesterday. It is in very good shape and drives great for a car with 4 years/60k miles under its belt.

I think the ebay pics are very representative of the real thing....it's a pretty car. Tires have good tread, still smells like leather inside.

The car drives strong and sounds great. made me wish I had a catback on mine...what a great sound. As with all the modded M5's I've driven, I honestly don't see a huge difference in SOTP acceleration compared to my stocker.

The suspension was nice...much firmer than stock, but still comfortable on Houston city streets. Nav works, stereo is functioning as new.

Sure looks pretty under the hood with all the carbon fiber and strut tower brace! The rear brace doesn't seem to impinge on cargo capacity, and he doesn't have the folding rear seat option anyway.

The UUC clutch grabs nicely and is still light, streetable, and free of chatter. Shifter has no rattles. The whole car was squeak free during my drive. In fact, I wish my 03 was as free of squeaks as Dell's...I have to keep lubing my weatherstripping, or else it creaks like my old 5 liter Mustang. ;-)

The only little things that I noticed are a number of rock chips on the hood (more noticeable on a black car) and the weather stripping is worn on the drivers mid B pillar. Also, the rubber seal along the rain gutter at the top trailing edge of the drivers door is cracked.

All in all, I think it's a good car, and Dell is a stand up guy.

Good luck, and keep me posted!

Sanjay

I do not believe Advantage is a member of the Sonic Automotive Group.

Maybe when Sonic took over they didn't take the Advantage dealers. I remember when they bought Land Rover Houston my buddy Steve (parts manager for the whole group) told me they were one company...but that was before Sonic.
I've been talking to Dell too Tim. Seems like a really nice guy. I haven't had a chance to drive down to the city and look at it. Hope it works out. Kevin

Cool! Let me know if you notice anything.

On the business cards for Advantage, the e-mail address is the "name"@mccallgroup.com so they might be different.
Tim-

So are you going to fly down and pick it up, or have it shipped? A few day trip & a couple hundred miles would be a nice way to reaquaint yourself with the Beast!!!
He is going to take it to Matthews.

It is very likely I will fly down and drive her back. If I get a killer transport deal I will transport it. I figure with flight and gas etc. it will cost me $500 to drive it back.

Hey, if I DO fly down maybe we could have an impromptu Houston meet :D

Yeah maybe Rob and myself could meet up with you as well, I have yet to meet the Houston posse, but all in due time, Josh
Honestly,

if you guys want a PPI done, talke to joel at Bavarian Hyper Sports...he is the one that built Dell's car and knows bmw's better than anyone else in Houston.

Tim, good luck... hope this is the one. Glad you're getting back into a beast-- will want to hear all about it! :wroom:
Tim, you sly dog! It's the circle of life, sort of. Been outta touch on M5 board since I sold mine but you didn't mention it when the Ferrari of Denver thing came up. Our worlds interconnect as I bought my Porsche Turbo at Momentum, flew down to see it and then had it transported to NY. Good luck getting back into the M5 world and let me know if you want me to try and get you your old trunk rug back as I'm sure Rakesh has it.
Jim: Thats funny! It is a small world for sure with some of us. If you can get the rug back let me know :)

Thanks and talk to you soon!
