I wanted to post an update but it has over 100 pictures in it and this stupid thing can only handle 10 per post...

Looking for a new project and stumbled upon E60 M5 6-speed with 140k miles in the US for $7.4k. Looks pretty beaten so I sent him a message. I lost my mind.

I think I know the car you are talking about. I would not recommend it.

Looks like pile of junk and for some reason I want it. The paint is two-tone special and hole in the bumper provides extra cooling I imagine.

Lets see by how much I can lower the price.

That's not the one I was thinking about, though. Man, it looks rough - your kinda lady. :)

Thank you!

Probably the dumbest move I ever made. I'll confirm in a few months, but here the gist:

Silver grey 2007 E60 M5 with a 6-speed manual, 1 of 1.366 produced only for the US market. 1 of 155 in that color combo. 4 owners, clean title but accident on Carfax in 2014 (fender bender) in the front, 142k miles, no service history other than what's on Carfax, every single light on the dash is shining like a bright star, misfires and runs poorly but no knocking noise.

In other words, the very definition of a basket case. Pics.

But, I bought it for $6k which should make it the cheapest of its kind in the USA so it'll be one of those videos. Gonna Hoovie it up.
Of course, by the time it lands in my yard and shipping, customs, tax... and other fun stuff are added, the final price will be much higher but it will be a rarity in Europe.

It's not sadly. Built date 12/2006 but it's nicely loaded and I love the silver-grey paint.

Not terrible overall but I'm expecting that everything needs attention on it.

Well, first I need to get the car, perform a thorough inspection and decide what I want to do with it. I need to calculate how much money I'd need to invest to get this car on German plates and if it makes financial sense. I'm sure it will need things like tires, brakes, rod bearings, front bumper and other mechanical repairs... it also has primary cat delete which is a good way to end up in German prison if attempted to be driven like that here, so I need to source them as well. All of the lights need to be converted to Euro-spec so there will be quite a lot to do. Only then I'll know what will I do with it.

Good luck! Looking forward to tracking the progress on this one, great effort on trying to get it to Europe let alone the restoration!

Just curious, what kind of custom and tax fees you have to pay in Germany when you import used car there?

I bet that ill placed M5 badge ****s you off lol

looking forward to the videos for this project.
Yeah, it's so annoying seeing it like that, lol.

10% import duty and 19% tax, plus shipping, handling and other good stuff.

The car is with a friend of a friend awaiting pick up. I have to say I'm very excited!

Funnily enough, this is the newest BMW I ever bought. So far that title went to my old '05 e46 330Ci ZHP.

Where in NC was the car? I used to live in Raleigh for many years, and about 10-12 years ago a techno-violet E39 M5 showed up on craigslist in Durham with ~150k miles and a totally wasted Caramel interior. The car was well beat and the guy was asking $9k initially and the last I saw it was down to $4500. Only later did I find out it was the one and only Individual Techno-Violet E39 M5.

Interestingly, this looks like a very similar neighborhood as that E39 lived in, but then again, you could say that about 100 times over around that area.

Part 2 of project Malaga is up on the channel!

It's the longest video I made to date but I'm pretty happy how it turned!
