Been doing loads behind the scenes and atm don't have much time to go into detail but a quick overview includes:

- Full boot retrim using real alcantara including upper boot trim
- New wheels purchased from ArtInMotion, USA - they arrived about 1.5months ago so I've mounted tyres and kept them in storage for show season 2017
- New winter wheels (Schmidt Xs5) purchased few days ago thanks to a local forum member, having sold the Avant Garde M355

Just a couple of pics I took on my new winter wheels, The concavity rocks!

Few updates since my last post...

I've made a new splitter to sit underneath my V splitter and I absolutely love it. The flex of having air suspension means I can always raise the car over speed bumps and not incur any damage to the CF splitter.

Last week, I had mine done last week... these are the worst of the lot with a few others also showing signs of copper but not to this extent.

I had done an oil analysis 2k back which I was told it looked fine, but comparing notes with others I was x4 worse off in my analysis figures so it was time. I wouldn't even wait for the analysis and just have them done for peace of mind in hindsight but most of my funds went on mods rather than maintenance.

When I got to my indy, he had 3 other S85s ALL, in for engine rebuild due to spun bearings between 60 - 73k - yikes! So glad I was booked in for preventative. Also got a thumbs up that the VANOS pump was fine and a clean bill of health which put my mind at rest.

Mine? Well its now 69, 825 mileage.

Work Done:
- Rod Bearings using OEM and OEM bolts (BE were out of stock)
- HP Vanos line
- Oil and Filter change
- Diff Oil Flush
- Transmission Oil flush

Total including parts, labour and VAT was £1400 GBP using a specialist Indy just outside of London and he's considered a legendary in the BMW world over here so if any UK members want a place to go with confidence, let me know and I'll be happy to share details (I'm not affiliated in any way but just like to pass good feedback where it's due). The work was completed in 2 days and I even got a courtesy car!

I was close to engine failure guys and I've only owned my beast for 8k miles which I've done 2 oil changes already prior to this!

Get them done folks, get them done!!

Hi Mass,

Very sorry only just seen this message.

CPC Performance Engineering Ltd - Home

His details are above - feel free to give him my name (Sam with the red M6). I'm seeing him next week for some more preventative / service schedule work.

Would love to hear your thoughts on Eventuri. I run BMC filters and RPI scoops.

Hi sam!

Thanks, did some research and found the details online ! Taking the car tomorrow morning ! I will for sure mention your name.

Eventuri are another world, the product is of a very high quality and the car just reacts so much better. I have taken the car to minus 20 degrees and been in those conditions for 10 days.. not one glitch on the evolve tube and carbon intake system.

Feel free to email me ! [email protected], if you have h and r lowering springs would love to hear your thoughts !

Best

Ah I was also going to take mine in tomorrow but called Phil and changed mine to next Tuesday Lol!

What are you having done?

I have had H n R but am now on Air ride system. HnR are stored for when and if this beast is put back to stock lol.

Loved it and wouldn't change it for anything but I had to bag the M6

So I've been planning lots behind the scene in terms of preventative and service scheduling. Dropped the beast off to my not so local Indy at 6am today for the following:

- Oil service (it's been 1.5k since rod bearing change)
- New battery (95ah AGM Bosch and registered) - preventative
- Spark plugs - service schedule
- Track rod assemblies - preventative
- Control arm bushes - preventative
- Full geo afterwards
- O2 sensors - preventative
- Both Ionic modules - preventative
- Parking and Side Light Bulbs changed

That's about it. Should be collecting tonight itself, happy days!

Pic of the Beast in it's glory at an indoor event last month.

Update:

I recently had a unique opportunity to buy and have installed uprated throttle actuator gears which I jumped on so about a month back I had them installed - another part that I've eliminated from leaving me stranded on the motorway.

Whilst that was out, I decided now was a good time to replace all the coil packs so I did them too. I also cleaned the throttle bodies thoroughly.

More recently, when I've been in low gears (say 3rd) and had it upto 7/7.5k rpm, the car goes into limp mode, 4.5k limiter and EML light comes on. I had been planning to replace my fuel pump and filter and I think that's what this is going to be so I've ordered those things too.

You won't believe the kind of money I've spent on this thing but end of the day at least I have something to show for it and it's not pissed down the drain. To that extent, I've also just purchased a front and rear BBK from Stop Tech 380mm all round (6pot front | 4pot rear) and absolutely cannot wait to get them on!

Well that's it for now from me. As soon as my rims get sold I can start to save up a bit more for further mods lol!

Love the BBK. Keen to hear how they work for you! Any idea how much weight savings over the stock setup?
Thanks. To be honest I haven't considered weight savings one bit, what with a 20kg sub woofer + numerous amps, air ride installed and what not, but as they say, 'every little helps'. The aim of the next phase of the build will be to possibly lose the audio jig in the boot and get her more a performance oriented car (without a supercharger as that's just damn too pricey to do in 1 hit lol!).

Been a year since I updated this thread so thought I should do something about it, lol! I've been busy moving homes and changing jobs/travelling so things with the M6 took a back seat although I've still done multiple preventative/maintenance things to it.

- Fuel Pressure Sensor
- Changed steering wheel back to an OEM (retirmmed) as I missed that after having the Flat bottom CF one.
- Ionic modules replaced
- Fuel Injector O rings replaced

Mods since last update:
- Competition Bonnet - needs painting + installing
- LCI tail lights installed
- ACS Spoiler - awaiting delivery
- New custom made 3 pc wheels bought - awaiting delivery
- Upgraded underseat speakers to Rainbow
- Looking to retrofit LCI front turn signals
- Looking to buy Aluminium foot pedal kit
- Looking to either upgrade my Oil Cooler to RadTech (less than half the price compared to RPI) or replace with OEM since it's still going strong and lasted 75k

Have been toying with the idea of buying and installing the VT2-675 BHP ESS kit but in split minds. I drive her say 3k - 4k a year and I'm just not sure I will get much use from her. I don't want to sell her unless I absolutely need to but we shall what 2019 holds in store as far as mod plans are concerned.

After months of umming and arring I finally bit the bullet and ordered the ESS VT2 675 kit. Started a new thread to track this :D

Car has had most big ticket items already done under my ownership over the last 2.8 years other than VANOS pump and SMG pump but I have an SMG pump motor at the ready for a rainy day! I've only driven my car some 2k in 2018 so cannot wait to fit this and enjoy 2019.

Mods so far:
  • Accuair / Airrex Air Ride with a full show boot build in alcantara
  • Eventuri (Sold)
  • LCI rear lights
  • Competition OEM Hood / Contour Bonnet
  • RPi Scoops
  • Eisenmann Race Exhaust
  • Pedal Box
  • Stop Tech BBK Front and Rear
  • ACS Rear Spoiler
  • Front CF V style splitter
  • Front CF home made lower splitter
  • New 3 piece Brada Wheels ready to go on (when weather clears up)
  • Full Audio overhaul including Morel Hybrid Ovation components, Rainbow underseat speakers and JL 12w7 sub woofer + 2 x Hertz HDP4 amps and JL 1200/1 v2 amp.
Maintenance so far:
  • Rod Bearings + HP Vanos line
  • Throttle Actuators
  • Clutch/Flywheel and sundry items
  • Throttle Valve Actuators
  • Spark Plugs / Coil Packs
  • Control Arms + inner/outer tie rods + all bushings + drop links
  • 02 sensors
  • Fuel Pump + Fuel Filter
  • Fuel Injectors
  • Battery / +ve battery cable
  • Ionic Modules
  • Diff Oil Flush
  • Transmission Oil Flush
I'll be fitting the charger myself in my garage over time and may get help from some friends. I've worked on this car before myself i.e. changing fuel injectors etc but nothing crazy like this. Really looking fwd to learning along the way.

Anyone with any hints or tips of things I should have prior to starting the install please let me know.

Thanks. I love this community!
