Hi all,

This is my first ever petrol car (I'm almost 30yrs). I'm exchanging my heavily modified BMW E92 335D for this V10 as a stop gap before I jump bck into something more sensible but really just wanted to try my hands, and what better way than to do so, I thought. The exchange of my car for this suited me perfectly - recently married, no kids and mrs happy for me to jump on this, which makes all the more sense lol!

Anyways, I believe this car might already have been floating on the forum pages few years back. A friend of mine had purchased it - Indianapolis Red but quickly had it wrapped to a Matt Metallic Blue colour, which still lives on. I have the choice to either keep the wrap or take it off and get it nicely detailed.

It's had ALOT of work done under warranty and I'll be getting the Tier 1 BMW warranty soon as I take her into my hands. It's covered 61.5k mileage but has already had the following done under my friends approx 10k ownership. I'm sure I can get a full list of the work it's had done before and after that but there what I know:

Feb 2014: Replaced Battery & +ve battery cable @ 45,375
Mar 2014: Replaced fuse in alarm system as causing battery drain @ 45,474
Apr 2014: Replaced clutch and clutch salve cylinder @ 45,732
Apr 2014: Replaced VANOS hub and solenoid valves on engine bank 1 @ 45,732
May 2014: Testing for engine revs dropping, no faults stored/recorded @ 46,253
Jul 2014: Replaced both engine idle actuators @ 47,979
Aug 2014: Replaced all hydraulic valvle clearance compensators, exhaust solenoid valve, coolant temperature sensor, throttle valve assemblies (cylinders 1-5) & throttle body bellows (cylinder 3,5,9)

The above is a much simplified summary of the work that was carried out by BMW themselves and I know after he sold it, it went to another friend of mine who's had pretty much trouble free driving, other than the usual servicing!

Half of that stuff was replaced as BMW were trying things to find a solution to the original issue my friend had - loss of power - so its actually good as the car was pretty much getting rebuilt under warranty.

Modifications:
Wrapped in Matt Metallic Blue
Eisenmann Race Exhaust
BC Forged HB29 20" 2 piece wheels
Side Skirt Extensions
Lowered on H&R springs all round
Private Plate - M6 UGO

I'll be on here regularly to read and enjoy other people's build. Sneak Peak for now.

Gorgeous. Blue is definitely not a color of mine, but that wrap sure looks sweet! I love those wheels, too. Do you have any more information about them? Tires? Any fitment issues or modifications?

Thanks!

2 piece light weight forged wheels:

Fronts are 20 x 8.5" ET15 with 235/35 20 tyres
Rears are 20 x 10.5" ET20 with 275/30 20 tyres

I'm actually looking to sell the wheels as want to put something else on which I've got my eyes on.

Happy to work on a price if you're interested... they do need a refurb I'm told and the tyres have about 5mm life all round left in them. There's no spacers, no issues and no rubbing at all. In fact Its lowered on H&R and there's still room to upscale tyres.

Hey Rick,

What a small world! I've been reading up on your thread on m3cutters and jaw drops every time I see your car/wrap! Looks the NUTS and the BC Forged wheels would simply put the final touches on it I think!!:wink

I'll drop you a text tomorrow bud!

Sam

P.S. I get the car 1st wknd of April and the wheels will need a refurb as most have some light curb marks all around which the current owner has made me aware of so just to make you aware.

Really kind of you man! I'm based near Guildford way - about 40mins from West London. I'm always at the major car shows, Ultimate Stance, Players, Gaydon etc on the Custom Cars stand - not sure if you know of Dips?

I will need to pick your brain as and when. The car has been trated to a host of things which I'm aware of (as per my 1st post on here) and has gotten serviced today including new rear brakes and oil change.

Do I need to worry about the rod bearings, or anything else? Who did yours and where did you buy them from?

I am on ebay right now looking to buy a 2nd daily car haha.

Lol you will most definitely need a daily, I drive mine once or twice a month! I'm on the other side of the m25 near Romford so not too far at all.

Drop me a message tomorrow and I'll let you know of everything you need to look out for and who the best person for the job is. In the mean time just enjoy the car!

I've got an audi q3 lol I've never kept a car longer than a year however I've held on to this one for two years. It's an expensive car to run from my experience but when it's running right there's not much I would swap it for!

Update:

The wrap is now off but took with it most of the lacquer peel so, I've got it in the body shop undergoing a full respray. This I really can't wait for! I chose for it to be the same Indianapolis Red as I love the colour.

Collecting this weekend so fingers crossed it all goes well!

So aside the general looking after the paintwork by meticulously washing the car using 2BM and related good products, I'm going to have it protected by a pro detailer.

Update on mods side of things:
1. Bought and fitted my CF V style front lip 2 days ago and just makes me fall in love with it even more!

2. The BC Forged wheels (though I've listed for sale) are going in for a full refurb this wknd in time for my attendance to Players Classic. I'll run them for a bit and if I fancy a change of wheels then I'll push the sale.

3. In talks with someone to completely re-do and modernise the front lights which will be a 1st so fingers crossed my idea/vision comes to fruition.

4. Audio - I may put in my JL 12w7 and Amp + Morel Hybrid Ovation in this 6er but have to say how well I'm impressed with stock L7/Hifi or whatever is in there lol!

(sorry for the poor quality phone pics but better ones will be taken / put at soon!)

Some general pics I've snapped up

Tips after a quick clean/once over - do need to go over it few more times to really bring out the shine!

Parked up with my boy Tallis who just got rid of his E61 M5 - such a well specc'd car:

That's it for now :)
