Getting my Deep Sea Blue 650 coupe in a few weeks (in transport) and and buying my new rims now. Have been agonizing on what to choose.

Okay all so I have narrowed it down to two after 2 months of disputing and researching. I have been convinced by the guy who will be building my wheels that the Vellano's are the best. Now I just have to choose which model. I am going 22's and chrome. The two models I am trying to decide between are the Vellano VSE and Vellano VSIs.... Over on the bimmerfest board the overwhelming majority said VSI without question, however I still think in person the VSEs would look amazing. ( My wheel guy confirmed this). It is just so hard to pick wheels based on pics because in person they never look the same.

Here are some pics of them on the Vellano site, as well as the entire gallery on other cars as well. Please let me know what you think. I need as many opinons as possible.

Vellano VSE (From the actual shop I am getting mine done at BTW)- http://www.vellanowheels.com/gallery.../m6_1/m6_1.htm

Vellano VSI http://www.vellanowheels.com/gallery...45_1/645_1.htm

General Gallery VSE (Check out the Acura NSX, Corvette, and Mercedes CL550 for best pics)http://www.vellanowheels.com/gallery/VSE/vsethumbs.htm

General Gallery VSI (The 650 coupe looks sick, but the vert looks weird I think because of the view)http://www.vellanowheels.com/gallery/VSi/vsithumbs.htm

BE SURE TO CLICK FORWARD UNDERNEATH THE PICS FOR MORE PICS! THANKS ALL IN ADVANCE!<!-- / message -->

These are some of the pics that made me fall in love with the VSEs to begin with. They look sick on these cars, but maybe they just dont fit the Bimmer. Also these are only like 20's compared with 22's which makes a big difference in the look of a wheel IMO. Anyway the color of these cars is somewhat similar to the Deep Sea Blue, which is why I think they would look awesome on the Deep Sea....The contrast is incredible and this would be the closest color combo (blue/chrome) to what I'd be getting.

VSI if you must. Perhaps not in chrome?

The 22 inch chrome VSE are bling city IMO.

Did you consider 20 inch wheels at all?
+1 if it must be these wheels.

my opinion: they look hideous
Agree really hideous--- I don't get it. But then, every set of stock M6 wheels swapped out for the chrome blingers means the market comes down. That way I can have track day rubber on one spare set and winter rubber on another set of BMW-engineered and manufactured wheels. For acres less than these "roulette" wheels cost.

Lesson for me is obvious. I'll take what BMW thinks is the right setup when they build these cars. Nothing more beautiful than safety.

My brother had a wheel break at exit of Turn 9 Willow Springs, went off at about 120 in a GT3. Nailed the pit wall. Front of car went one way, rest of car stayed intact at the seat face. Broke both legs above and below the knee. Spent a year in surgical rebuilding/rehab in Switzerland. Aftermarket wheels.

Drama amplified by Kovalienen at Spanish GP last weekend when a rim shattered at 180.

IMHO

It's for a 650....M6 - go with 20's, 6 series - go big like 22's

I like the VSI wheels more than the other

Wheels

I still don't get it. Ah well. If this mods game keeps up, those of us with near stock M6s are going to be the exceptions.

Since M6 facty wheels are readily available, why not use them on a 650? Nice mod and you're still on BMW eqmt.

Remains my most humble opinion.

I am actually going to get the M6 wheels to use as my winter wheels. But I am going to get them chromed of course. Where do you recommend I buy them? I can't find many places who sell them Factory OEM.

Personally, I think the stock M6 wheels are some of the prettiest OEM wheels you can find. I just can't get into the chrome 22's on these 6's. I have to agree that if you want chrome, modding out a set of OEM M6 wheels would be unique and much more tasteful than the alternatives....

Wheels

Locating OEM in NY etc. I have no info. I got mine at Wesco in Van Nuys CA. I'd check all the rim aftermarket stores. Someone is stockpiling OEM wheels after the mod wheels are swapped. Wesco has 'em because some dealerships are adding bling wheels in the showroom. There are inexpensive near copies in the marketplace for alot less money, but they aren't BMW gear, so I'd be very cautious.

But I'm out... had my say. Thanks to the like mind somewhere in Kansas. This was a thread for opinions so I'm pleased someone agrees, felt pretty lonely out here with my 4 OEM anchors. Actually 5 anchors since I carry a spare.
