After the horrors reported with the accompanying tune, I will steer clear of the $1K Dinan tune/delimit.

Who else offers just the delimiter and at what cost? Thanks in advance!

BTW, did a search and it only returned the post originated by Gustav, so don't be "A Flammin me"!:1:

Can you explain the Horrors reported with that product?

I only know that Darren Dallas reported losing power but Dinan gave him a full refund and that is the only car that has ever reported such an event for E60 M5 software offered by Dinan engineering.

I would hardly describe that as a horror story.....

Chris, you can go pound salt... Did you even respond with a suggestion?! It took me all of two minutes to find the below responses (both from >'07 owners); in addition to Darrens issues. Is a full refund to one person, suppose to make the product acceptable to the rest that have yet to purchase it?!!

I've failed to remember (1) GOOD instance with the latest Dinan tune/delimiter on the '07/'08 M5. I know that Dinan has a good record with the M's in the past; with the exception of the whinny *** gear set. What concerns me is the current programming available for the 2008 M5, everything outside of that, doesn't concern me. If I've missed all the other '08 owners that have received the latest Dinan and are happy with it, then I should rethink, but my recollection of the latest has not been favorable?! :confused2

(>'07 owners outside of Darren)
My A/F ratios are very rich in high RPM range. Maybe due to botched Dinan software install at dealer. Supposedly my car was past build date cutoff which apparently they did not mention to Dinan before installing software. They then had to back out the Dinan software and reflash to stock, however I am wondering if there are some Dinan remnants still lurking in my ECU. Or could this be due to the new software version from BMW? Not sure.

But I am disappointed in the amount of money spent vs. gains if any.
So far, members have tested Dinan ECU mods with mixed, at best, results. Rick

LOL, thank God for Tivo, or I'd forever be glued to the screen! How much was it, what's the stated delimit, and what is the process for having it done? Thank you for responding so quickly.

I am addressing a very strong use of words that you used to describe Dinan's software. You have no first hand expierence with the software and have no other info to back any "horror" stories. Your first example is not due to Dinan software. I responded to GiantPetro that it would not half take and that there is no way for the dealer to "botch" a software download if his version of BMW software is brand new the MIPP toll will be unable too download it. GiantPetro does not have Dinan software

ra0507's post does not say he has any software????

If you bought a shirt from Nordstom and you got home and it was ripped would you take it back get a refund and call that a horror story???? A full refund to one person is all that was necessary because no other customers have complained to Dinan about any software issues. Dont you think that if the product was sooo horrible that Dinan would be getting a call everyday?

Okay Chris, "horror" is a relative term. It's really not worth debating what the definitive parameters are the place it into the same context for everyone. I take it that you have no suggestions outside of Dinan?

I have Dinan software on my E60 without any problems so I am not too familiar with anyone elses software. But I think that with Turner's it is a piggyback system which would be more risky, your best route would be to do a reflash with whoever you may find. I think that limits you too very few tuners.

I think personally what is questionable about the dinan software tune is that (unless they have changed it) they advertise hp gains that are achieved only in conjunction with the removal of the stock charcoal filters. For anyone that has removed the charcoal filters the gain in power is evident the first time you hit 8k rpm. Whether the Dinan software produces any gains (or losses) in rwhp on it's own merit I suppose remains a mystery. Either way one must be a little suspicious when a tuner with the reputation Dinan enjoys feels compelled to resort to piggybacking on a simple 5 min DIY mod that most M5 owners have already done in order to justify purchasing thier software.

In their ENTIRE history, Dinan has never claimed HP gains just from their software, standing alone. If you did any homework before you write inane comments, you would know this. See the link below, post # 173.

My 2 cents

I had the Dinan software installed for 1 week.

Pros - No bouncing off of the rev limiter.

Cons - The engine idled roughly during warmup and misfired causing emisison's faults. No other performance improvements noticed.

My dealership recommended removing the software. Unlike Darren's car, my drivetrain is stock.

Dinan makes good products, the E60 software is not one of their better offerings.

I've got the Stage 2 suspension installed and like the flatter handling and equalized body height, at the expense of a bumpier ride on anything over than pool table smooth pavement.

For software, look at other alternatives.

I would rather have the hardware version of a de-limiter...can't be dumped by a software upgrade...
