Hey guys, how does the performance of the V12 Vantage compare to the M6. The numbers seem to be similar between the 2 cars. What do you think?

Vantage should be faster from 0-60mph, but m6 is faster from 0-120mph.

I think 0-60 is overrated anyway. It doesn't say anything. IMO it's all about 0-120mph.

But damn, it is nice!

They are pretty, but honestly I find ferrari cars much more sexy. For the price of a V12 Vantage, I would much rather have a used F430 @~$130k in close to mint condition.

But I guess Austin Martins are a different kind of sexy from a Ferrai. An Austin is Angelina Jolie at the oscars, and a Ferrari is Angelina wearing lingerie.

Very well said and I agree.

I wish I had the funds as I would buy both and keep the M6.

after owning and driving both, the two cars are both great (M6 & DB9 ... to put the thread back on course instead of the Ferrari distraction)...

(granted, the Vantage and DB are different frames & interiors... their engines are extremely similar and the fit & finish are nearly the same)

My best suggestion is to drive both, and find what you like and dislike about each.
The DB9 sounds athletic and drives less forgivingly. The interior gives a feeling of a finely tailored suit, with a balance of elegance and necessity ... it doesn't try to show off, it just *fits* properly and impresses unintentionally.

The M6 is much more subtle, but every bit of capable (if not more so) on the road and track. The exhaust note is more refined and isn't demanding attention like the Aston Martin. Passing other vehicles at highway speed seems similar in the two vehicles... the DB9 had more torque, but the M6 rev'ed higher ... so both vehicles perform the task expeditiously, only with two different modalities.

There will always be little things you will love about each vehicle... for me, the angle the doors open and the sexy door handles on the DB9 were the immediate introduction to elegance and class when you or your lady enter the car .... on the M6, the clever auto-sensing unlock feature when you put you hand near the handle of the door, and the soft-close feature immediately offer the sense of utilitarianism, intelligent engineering and functional refinement.

And the list goes on as you delve deeper into the different features of each car.
Personally, I can find no more difficult a comparison between GT coupes than the DB9 and the M6 ... with the exception of replacing the M6 with a Bentley Continental GT because the difference between form and function are more blurred when comparing two British cars instead of a German and a British car.

In sum, you will love both for different reasons. Spend as much time behind the wheel of both so you can define which among those reasons you prefer.

if you are considering a Ferrari in comparison to the M6, try the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti as it is more of a GT than any of the aforementioned models.

Ferrari is Miranda Kerr
Ferrari is Sophia Loren (in the 1960s)

One time a guest asked Johnny Carson on the Tonight show who he wanted to be if not himself. He answered without hesitation "Carlo Ponti, and if you have to ask why, you are up past your bedtime."

612 has 4 seats (as do the M6 and Aston Martin) ... the only reason I mentioned was to keep the comparison between 4 seat, 2 Door GT Coupes ...

if no benchmark or categories apply...

Space Shuttle > MX Missle > F15 Fighter > Rocket Car > Top Fuel Dragster > Formula 1 car > Bugatti > .....

But yes, the 599 is a phenomenal 2 seat car

I concur if we're talking 599 GTO but too bad it looks more like an American muscle car than a Ferrari... :) However, I like the looks of the 458 Italia more... The 458 also turned one of Ferrari's best track times on BBC's Top Gear (only a tenth of a second behind the Enzo and two full seconds ahead of the 599: BBC Power Lap Times)
