Driving on Lincoln Ave on Saturday morning I saw a silver 6-series cabrio with aftermarket black rims. Strangely enough it had an M6 badge both on the back and on the little side grills. How is this possible?

I didn't know they were available anywhere. The guy driving it did not look like a German BMW executive either; more like an american rockstar, thick dude covered in tats.

A fake? It seems like such a stretch and unbelievable that anyone would go through the trouble. Sure we all see fake M3s or even M5s, but this seems like a bit much to create a car not yet available (as far as I know). I guess even autoshow prototype cars are for sale with the right money and connections.

The weird thing is that when they test drive they don't put the badges on and they do what they can to conceal the identity. About a year ago I spotted the new M5 here and it had no badges and had a bunch of black tape on the front and back and over the side grills. Last year I had a camera and posted a bunch of pics of the M5, this time I was not as prepared...

Can someone really have gone through all the trouble of creating fake M6 badges?! It's not like you can just get them like the 3 and 5.

It's not that hard to get an m6 badge, you just have to know someone at an official dealer.

Touche, as they say in your parts. It just seems so amazing to me that someone would go through the trouble of getting fake M6 badges from Europe to put on a car to create something that anyone in the know knows doesn't exist. What's next, M badges on a 7-series?

Guess it beats doing this to your car:
