As much as it breaks my heart today to write this post, I have been going through some personal changes in my life, that only a select few are aware of, and as such it is time for me to move on with my life. Moving on includes parting ways with the car that at one time, I felt as if I would be burried in.

Today that just is not the case and with a move pending two one of two places where BMW's, and certainly HIGHLY modified ones, just would not work out well, I have decided to put the car up for adoption.

As most know, the car was supercharged by Discovery Automotive and had a few niggles that needed to be taken care of. This has been the case and the car now runs 100% without issue.

Details
2001 BMW M5 Lemans Blue/Silverstone Interior Rear Sunshade Slip/fold seats. 49,000 miles. VIN WBSDE93411BZ99653

No accidents/incidents prior to heading to discovery automotive or since. Since being picked up at DA in March of this year, the car has seen approx 5,000 miles.

Other than performance mods, the car also has a JBL Pro Power 600.1 Class D Amp with a Infinity Kappa Perfect 12.1 Sub in a custom enclosure.

All other performance modifications are listed and the entire build up can be seen at
http://www.discovery-automotive.com/portal/modules.php?name=Static_Content&id=4

I am also parting ways with my m3 at the same time, so please do not think that this is just me trying to get rid of the m5. I have enjoyed my time in both cars, but I want and need a method of transportation that is capable of doing all the things I need not just one or two and finding ways around obstacles. The m5 is a wonderful car, but I am just in need of something new and something that meets all my needs.

Serious offers only and the car is ready for immediate sell. Title is TX and is completely free of liens against it.

Serious offers only. The car will remain as is, and will not be parted off at all prior sale. I would like to see this car remain in the hands of a serious m5board.com member as this has been nothing more than the most serious of projects.

I would also like to appologize to Gustav and the moderators for placing this post in the General m5 section, but I honestly feel that an M5 of this nature does not belong in the For Sale section.

Thanks again all for your time. I will miss her no doubt, but time and life goes
forward.

If you desire to own one of the M5board.com voted top 2 M5's of all time, please feel free to call me at 321 960 1089.

Thanks again guys,

Rob Kolar

I know that must have been a tough post and I think you have done the right thing to find a home for the Beast and giving someone the opportunity to own such a cared for member of your family!

Best of luck to you in your life changes and I do hope you will stay a member of this board. You are a valuable asset to this community!

Stay cool!
Hello Rob,

I am so sorry to hear about the changes in your life. I 'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers and hope that everything works out.

Even though I just finally registered, I have been following this Board for months in preparation to get my E-39 M5. I have enjoyed reading your posts and agree with the others that I hope you continue to participate. Your stories and following the mods on your Beast have been great.

Best Wishes,
Alfred
Thanks guys,

if you all know of anyone that might be interested in purchase, please pass along the info to them.
OMG!!! what an amazing project and car. i like the fact that it's fairly subtle looking on the outside..no really outrageous fins, skirts, etc. enthusiasts know something good's going on here but you can't tell the extent.

i enjoyed going through the pix...good luck with the sale, what an amazing car.
A couple of questions for you Rob..

Emissions. Does it have all of the emissions controls, and is it likely to pass a smog test (including one of the new dyno ones)? Shadowman might need to chip in on this one. I ask this because there are many areas in this country where the smog police must be respected. Are there emissions requirements in Texas (and area I am likely to move to in the near future)?

And I know this is a stupid question to ask (especially since I am one who understands that owning a modd'ed vehicle means you have to be ready for anything) but is D/A's work covered under any kind of "warrenty". I know, I know... if you burn the clutch (TWICE!!) it is on you!!! But what about internals to the engine, etc? Not that worried about it myself, but it might be an issue for some.

I know you had mentioned the possibility of selling it before it was even completed... its a sad day... And I hope your personal issues work out for you. Is the car going to be in any mags? I saw that Abdullah's is listed as the most powerful, but I thought yours was putting out a bit more? Any final dyno numbers?

Dan,

The car is not really coverd by a warranty really but it is....it makes little sense but if something were to go wrong with the DA installed parts, Da will do what they can to assist in anything. Now if the clutch goes bad because of user error, then you are on your own.

As for emissions...i dont see why the car would not pass..it has everything that a stock m5 has for emission control albiet it runs alot more gas through it, but my cats are so clean running that im sure it would almost run cleaner with the cats and an overall more efficient engine.

The car is scheduled for Bimmer Magazine. I am unsure as to what month it will be included as. Possibly july???

The power of both cars should be about equal honestly...originally i kept pushing the limit on abdulla but he kept meeting me, so in all honesty, its a crap shoot. I know that I run the nitrous for high temp, high boost applications so heat soak should be less of an issue with mine, so after a few runs i might have an advantage. As for dyno numbers, none yet. With Bill's help, we finally solved the set of issues 2 days ago that i had been having since i picked up the car. So only now, would i even attempt to dyno the car. I might be heading up to Bavarian Hypersports in Houston sometime to leave the car there while its on the market, so it might be dyno'd while there.

May be tough or impossible in CA as far as visual goes. For CA buyers, maybe Shadow would have a Smog station source.

Incredible car. If I had the disposable income, I would consider that fine machine. It would be quite interesting to drive on the track.
josh, go ahead and give me a call..number is listed above. I like talking business more via the phone than via PM's and such
I want to drive it one more time, I am back from Miami, give me a call, Josh

your a crazy bastard Rob;)
why dont you call me mr. ivebeengonefortwodaysseenafloridamarlinsgamebeenawayfromthewifeandmyboysbutwantssomeoneelsetocallme?
On a side note, whoever ends up with this car is getting one awesome machine, if I didnt already own a M5 or still have a loan on it I would be all over this deal. When your driving this car its simply amazing, the braking the particulary the balance and suspension, after driving it and getting in my car it makes feel like I am driving a ford tempo:M5thumbs: . Robs car just feels planted and nimble, its a very stable platform that puts all that awesome power to the ground. Hopefully an enthuisist from the board will take ownership of this car so we can continue to hear about her in the future, Josh
Rob,

My thoughts are with you. I hope things work out for the best and you will get through this struggle as fast as possible.

I see someone getting a unique car one normally has to wait for a long time; where all small issues are already resolved and probably for a very attractive price....

I figured that to be the case (that DA is a stand up company that will back their product), just wanted to make sure of the understanding. And the clutch comment... well, think back to some of the threads in the past few months... it was more of a joke that I mentioned the clutch.
I was just making a joke about the clutch issue as well...
Rob, I echo the wishes of fellow members.. Be safe, take care and stay in touch.

I have mentioned the car to a few possible buyers.. I will IM you next week.. hopefully with a bit of news once the guys have gone thru the details..

Best Wishes to you, hope all goes well. I do hope a Board member becomes the new owner. Your car would make a nice SC companion to my 993, but that would mean that I would have to part with my M5. :M5launch:

 To you!
Rob, good look finding a new home for your beast and hope everything works out in the long run. You have one sweet ride that deserves a caring home.
